I can’t find any statistics, but if you are going Rambo don’t forget that the police won’t assume you are the good guy. At least call 911 and describe yourself before going in.

The futility is, “this never happens”. Literally. Until it does. In the meantime everyone falls back into normal rhythm.

At close quarters a shotgun is messy but deadly. Was that what you wanted to know? At close quarters any gun will do to put an assailant or an animal down. I protect my home with a handgun in .40 caliber and my farmland with a rifle in .223 caliber. I have shotguns for sporting purposes but wouldn't choose them for self defense. I have an olympic match pistol for competition. It is incredibly accurate but not really powerful enough for self defense. So a handgun for close quarters and a rifle for distance would be my recommendation.

Don't dodge the issue. There are very many democratic countries that limit access to guns and don't have school massacres on the scale you guys do.
Those democratic countries have there share of madmen, just as does America.
Face up to it, you love your guns so much you sacrifice children to keep them. That's your choice but be honest.

No, we just need to make sure that far more people are armed and prepared to gun them down in the act of committing a violent crime instead of depending on police to count the bodies.

A criminal justice system that stands down while psychos commit mass murder cannot be depended on to control identify and control sociopaths.

Please provide a link to your source for these "two additional school shootings in Texas were averted by doing just that".

And of course, since you know everything, there's no doubt your opinion should form world policy.

And you won't find any. Because it pretty much never happens. A lawful gun owner doing lawful things will automatically put the gun down the moment cops show up in front of them.

As for calling 911...if there is an active shooting going on that is the LAST thing one should do when the gunman is right in front of you.

That's awesome. Let's face it, this kind of stuff is pretty rare to begin with. After that, it takes some serious guts to face down an active shooter. I'd like to think I would, but you never know until your in that situation which I've so far completely avoided for 61 years.

The fact that 6 folks actually followed through and did that is simply epic. God bless them.

Naah. No one can stop the NSA and the American addiction to guns.
Anyway stop moaning I've already said I think 19 children is a small sacrifice to own a lovely AR15. There's loads more children.

And you have people arrested for fb posts, for not wearing a mask outdoors, and those people are subjects instead of citizens.

    hardly worth the trade.

If we use the AR-15 for abortions would that make it more palatable?

You should make a separate thread about that for all the liberals that say that guns don't prevent crime.... Or in this case stop Mass shooters.

I'm sure that @Arkanis would find it fascinating.

I find it fascinating that in 2021, 4 mass shooters were killed by armed civilians.

    In 2020: 2

There were 482 mass shootings in 2021 (702 dead, 2800 injured), 0.8% were stopped by an armed civilian...

    Wow...

I doubt that was a position he was reasoned into, so unlikely a position that he can be reasoned out of. Everyone knows the vulture jump they do after every innocent that is shot when it can be fashioned to their political objectives, we've seen this bad show for decades, it does not convince anyone it hasn't already convinced, and that's about 40% of us.

They couldn't even get every Democrat Senator to vote for whatever rule they propose. And Schumer, not the brightest, but even he has said no votes because he knows it would cost him seats. Even a flatworm after repeated shocks learns to turn from pain.

We have folks here that have memorized the lines and the prompts to deliver them. It's not effective and it's not the solution.

"It Was The Wrong Decision" - Officers Waited To Engage Texas Shooter Because "They Could Have Been Shot"

"Of course it was not the right decision, it was the wrong decision... very wrong...
    "

Back to topic, guns are simply tools, they are not magic like the OP seems to presume. They will not stop shooters if they are not utilized effectively, which seems to puzzle our poster. He seems to be pretending that someone told him that all an armed person has to do is present themselves and the armed threat disappears. Everyone sees right through this. It's essentially bait.

""In retrospect, from where I am sitting from right now, clearly there were kids in the room. It's important for live saving proposes to immediately get there and render aid," McCraw said. "Of course it was not the right decision, it was the wrong decision.""

I can assure you that throughout law enforcement today there is shock and shame at the cowardice of these officers, disbelief and tears over the needless lives that it likely cost, and law enforcement officers mentally reviewing their training and going over and over how they would respond to a situation like this to ensure that they would effectively rise to the challenge, immediately engage this shooter, force him to turn from murdering innocents to fighting for his own life until the threat was stopped, no let up, engage, and remain engage until the threat is rendered harmless.

"Officials acknowledged that police officers should have gone in rather than waiting, and that delay cost lives of children."

"It was the wrong decision, very wrong. There's no excuse for that. … When there's an active shooter, the rules change. There is no longer a barricaded subject. You don't have time," he said."

McCraw added that "if I thought it would help, I would apologize."

"18-year-old Salvador Ramos crashed his vehicle to when he entered the Texas school at around 11.40 a.m. and slaughtered 19 students and two teachers. But it wasn’t until almost 1 p.m. that Ramos had been killed and the siege was over, around 90 minutes later."

    WTF?

Are you now suggesting arming the kids in the classroom? LOL

The more you keep posting to divert attention, the crazier you sound.

Hmm. You should write to the NRA, Americans might change their minds on abortion if it means they get to use guns. :)

Depends on if you're dumb enough to blame an object and not the actor. Hint, it's cowardly to blame the for for people being fat. It's always the person.

Where did I suggest that? Oh right. I didn't. The more you post strawman arguments the more idiotic you sound.

Then what the hell do you mean by this:
Yes, I do support armed, trained, and insured professionals, regardless of how imperfect they are, rather than relying on civilians to take on those duties. If you're not asking them to wear multiple hats, wtf are you suggesting?
