Does that rule only apply to you or does it apply to others as well? If the latter, I read somewhere Trump asked the joint chiefs to shoot Floyd protestors outside the White House.

Eleven Republican senators bucked their leadership and voted against a motion advancing a $40 billion security assistance package for Ukraine on Monday, a sign of growing GOP opposition to U.S. efforts aimed at countering Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bloody three-month-old invasion there.

The list of lawmakers hindering aid to Ukraine has been steadily rising over the past month. Last week, 57 Republicans voted against the Ukraine assistance bill in the House. Two months ago, only three GOP House members voted against a separate security package.

Well, while I cannot call the GOP the Putin Party, their numbers are picking up every week...

Geez, even the human penis Rick Scott gets this need.... what is it these 11 people don't??

Yup.....public objection made today... for contrived reasons no other country will remotely recognize...

Turkey´s president on Monday complicated Sweden and Finland´s historic bid to join NATO, saying he cannot allow them to become members of the alliance because of their perceived inaction against exiled Kurdish militants.

    Joe Manchin indeed....

Maybe the US should object because Antti Raanta got the playoff win for Carolina the other night, instead of an American goaltender....

Big day in international defense history tomorrow..... a day Vlad the Impaler created and will rue every day he has left on this planet

Finland and Sweden will submit their bids to join NATO together on Wednesday at the military alliance's headquarters in Brussels, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson says.

Seems Chucky and Mitchy (and a few others) have finally found common ground on something. And they said it would never happen...

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-republicans-join-democrats-backing-152738580.html

I didn't realize an approval like this would require 2/3rds approval in the Senate..... will Mitch get 17 votes here?

2 weeks later, and nothing has changed...

    SNIP
In a statement, the Turkish presidency said Kalin had told Sullivan in a phone call that nations wanting to join NATO must "internalise the alliance's values and principles on security and counter-terrorism."

"It was emphasised that it is imperative for Sweden and Finland to take concrete steps regarding the terrorist organisations that threaten Turkey's national security," it added.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/turkey-tells-u-wants-concrete-182715327.html

I know some concrete we could introduce Erdogan to.....

Question for Turkey... How do the CURRENT NATO members stand on "terrorist organizations that threaten Turkey's national security"? If Turkey has no problem with any of their stances, I cannot imagine it would be a big deal for S and F to mirror that for purposes of unopposed admission...

It's always interesting when a lesser member of an organization is suddenly presented with a chance to gum up the works...

Turkey gave the big middle finger to the F-35 - despite being part of its manufacture .. going with weapons from the "Dark Side" .. which is understandable cause they are better .. but -- hold on there Turk .. your a NATO Nation .. not supposed to be cohorting with the enemy ..

Now we're talking... this is an action that might actually make Putin take some notice

    SNIP
The European Union agreed to block most oil imports from Russia, cutting off a key income source for Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to convince him to halt his invasion of Ukraine.

The deal is a huge step for the EU’s 27 economies ― for which Russia is a major source of energy ― and a big boost for the Ukrainians. The policy will cut off around 70% of Russian oil immediately by halting tankers, and officials say it will eventually cease over 90% of Russian oil sales. Though the plan exempts oil transfers by pipelines for now, European diplomats say that trade could also ultimately be stopped.

LoL.... Europe is committing suicide. Eventually their people are going to come for their leaders with the pitchforks. Wait until the real food shortages hit in the fall. We are down to 10 weeks of wheat supply.... something that has never happened in our lifetime. It is going to be bloodbath for the Democrats in November.... an absolute bloodbath. Hopefully Biden is impeached and thrown out of office before the end of spring 2023.

LOL, when did Biden have us join the EU???

Truly incapable of staying on topic for a full post.... work on that for 2023, will ya? And you got off to such a promising start too.... Tut Tut...

The midterms will be midterms.... some D wins, some R wins, some Q wins....

I like the D chances to retain the Senate, with the absolute dogshit candidates they are facing...

Looks like Denmark will be voting tomorrow to join the EU common defense structure (did anybody know they weren't in it already?)....

    SNIP
Historically skeptical about European Union efforts to deepen cooperation, Danish voters on Wednesday will choose whether to abandon the country's decision three decades ago to opt out of the bloc's common defense policy.

Not a potential game changer, like the 2 new NATO applicants, but every little bit helps. Sort of interesting that an original NATO member wouldn't have been in the EU defense plans as well...

Any country in Europe not analyzing every treaty and defense policy at this point is risking their future...
