Looking for anything you may have on the Rus, my interest in Vikings has led me here, I am understanding they were Swedes, Finnish and Norse. I also would like to talk about this here !

    From Wiki
The Rus' (Greek: Ῥῶς) were an early medieval group or people who gave their name to the lands of Russia, Ruthenia, and Belarus. In the mid-800s they were centered around Novgorod. They dominated the area for over a hundred years. Many of the leaders of the Rus' had Scandinavian names, later both Scandinavian and Slavic names. The Varangian Ruses' of Novgorod, intermingled (mixed) with the Slavs of Kiev and it became known Kievan Rus'.

people of mixed ethnic and cultural origin made up The Rus.
The Rus’ established a dynasty that remained in power for centuries, ultimately bestowing their name to the modern countries of Russia and Belarus. Their influence, and their impact on Eurasia, was felt from Scotland to Iran. I have had someone tell me There was a leader in first century Britton from the Rus people who is believed to be a big historical influence on the Autherine legend.

No, they were not. But there were many incursions into that territory, and the area of Ukraine, by vikings from Sweden, who travelled long distances down rivers.
This probably did leave behind an imprint on the genetic pool in these areas.

Here is an excerpt from this long thread, Vikings In The East, The Normans :

"The vikings from Sweden, led by Ingvar den Vittfarne, made it all the way into the Caspian Sea and then inland to plunder, proven by both Gobustan's ancient petroglyphs, carved by vikings in Azerbaijan, and the Gripsholm Runestone in Mariefred, Sweden.
Most people do not realize that jungle/ subtropical and temperate rainforests exist along the southwest mountainous coasts of the Caspian Sea."

From what I have gathered there are many disagreements about where they came from but I think there are a mix, more later

At first, I thought language might have been a negative in the rise of humans.

The human spoke to several of the Neanderthals while they were hunting. "What's that?" he asked. "How do you use it? I don't see any animals--you sure they're around here? Anybody got any extra jerky? I'm hungry. Whoa, Dude...you need to bath. What kind of skin did you make your clothes from? "

The Neanderthal growled at a human. "Human need to stop mouth noise," the he thought to himself, "Elk run away." The other Neanderthals seemed to agree.

    The Kiev Rus were first.
    Then relocated the capitol to
    Novgorod and later Moscow.
    Finally to Petrograd for the
    "ocean view".

Wrong. The first capital of Russia was Novgorod, then Kiev. After the Mongol invasion, Vladimir became the capital of Russia and only then Moscow.
