No, it is not even the fact that Rep. So, he pushes now a legislation on AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) should Russia use WMD in Ukraine. This boy Kizinger should ask first if he wants to take part in such a war, and then kiss his family and property goodbye, because it will be the US (always nuclear-biased) which will initiate nuclear exchange once it will meet realities of such a war. But then again, modern US establishment, including very large portions of military-intel community do not have a clue what war with Russia, even conventional one, means. Russia is also fully capable to wreck havoc in the US proper without resorting to nuclear. These are the facts that neither Kinzinger nor the most of the US Congress know, not to speak of having a good grasp of it. None of them ever fought in defense of their motherland and have no clue about real consequences of a continental war with modern "peer". MacGregor does, but that is why he is not in the US Armed Forces anymore.

Jenny, even if those figures were accurate (and you haven't quoted a source) your complete ignoring the losses suffered by Russian forces. NATO estimates are that aprox 20,0000 Russian soldiers have been KIA and that's uniformed Russian soldiers, with up to another 60,000 injured. Now yes, in theory many of those injured can return to the battlefield but many don't want to and are refusing to do so.

Russia had the equipment to form about 170 BTG's prior to commencement of the war. What it didn't have was the manpower to fill all the vacancies in those units. On paper yes. But only if conscripts were used to fill in the gaps. And since the invasion of Ukraine isn't officially a war (Russia should tell Ukraine BTW, I don't think they got the memo) conscripts can't be used, only volunteers. The result is that the majority of BTGs sent in at the start of the war went in understrength in infantry - and then suffered heavy casualties on top of that. So now?

Putin has been forced to 'ad lib'. He cant force conscripts into the fight so he has to recruit poor rural non-ethnic Russians from the East to fill the gaps by offering sign-up bonuses (No self respecting Muscovite is going to serve in the army or fight). And on top of that he;s forced the new 'Republics' he's sponsored in Ukraine to reinstate a mass draft. And I do means mass. Those republics have literally been hollowed out of males. Men have to hide or bribe their way out of combat.Those men are then given no training, are handed obsolete weapons and forced onto the front lines. mostly in defensive positions apparently but there is also evidence that they are also sometimes being used in offensive opsOlde men with chronic medical conditions being ordered on pain of death to eat bullets for Putin. Even Moscow backed 'leaders' of these Republics admit this is whats happening! And if you don't believe me go on Telegram and look up the details for yourself. Men like Girkin & Khodakosky state this is going on.

It's really is that simple. Russia has little or no professional infantry left. Putin won't draft ethic Russians into the fight and they won't volunteer. This is not a problem that Ukraine has BTW , at least for now though there are some hints/signs that this may be starting to change as casualties mount, albeit Ukraine already has more bodies than it has heavy equipment to support them at the moment. So Russia is literally fighting the ground war with cannon fodder.

Capturing those three areas (Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, and Siversky) would be a feather in the hat for Putin. The Ukrainian forces are going to have to do their best to keep that from happening.
