    We do! And my great grand were sponsored and jump threw the hoops to earn citizenship.. Thats generally how the more intelligent migrants do it, and boy howdy were they proud to become a citizen!!!

    Now, it's certainly possible the reporter just got it wrong (happens a lot), but if her father was already an American citizen, there would be no need for her to have "became a citizen at 14." Right?

    ETA: Her campaign website says this:

    About Mayra - Mayra Flores For Congress

    The inclusion of "naturalized" there would be odd if he were born an American citizen.

    If you’re pro-anchor baby now then just say so. She’s the first Mexican born member of congress from what I understand. I think it’s great. Just don’t understand why she’d pick a party who would deny her citizenship.
