Bets on whether this was funded by printing more money?

...clearly our political establishment thinks Zimbabwe was a success story.

Why didn’t he just lower taxes? Meanwhile his new gas tax kicks in a few days from now.

So Brylcreem man is sending back to the taxpayers of CA their own money. They’ll be taxed by the state and feds for sure, with what’s left they’ll be hit with a state sales tax of 7.5% and in some parts of CA the sales tax is over 10%.

Does anyone see a scam here? In the end California gets it all.

Do the math based on your income. What will you have after both the state and feds tax it and then get hit with at least 7.5% in sales tax?

Where do you think that money is coming from, the tax payers in Vermont? It’s your money to begin with, if Newsom can piss it away so easily then he never should have taken it from you in the first place. He should have given California’s taxpayers a tax break, what he’s doing now is a scam.

I know you’re a die hard team player, but even you would have to admit I’m right.

Why should I be mad I’m getting my money back? Don’t you think inflation is an issue? Doesnt it seems like a good time to give us tax payers a break?

You’ll be getting hit with income tax on your own money. Giving the tax payers a break means lowering taxes. I can’t believe you don’t see the psychology behind the scam.

We aren’t gonna cut taxes and def not on my income level, not that we’re rich but we ain’t getting a break. So I’ll pay taxes on money I wouldn’t have had otherwise? Should I not work OT for the same reason?

You’re still not getting it. You give Newsom your tax dollars, he gives some back to you and then taxes what he gave you. The big winners in all this are the cities who will clean up on sales taxes as people piss away their pennies they think came from heaven.

That’s great, City govt directly and indirectly makes up most of my household income lol
The other option was getting nothing, I’m happy to get a bit back. Maybe I’ll just save it to send to them next April.

States can't print money. You knew that, didn't you, but you attack anyway.

I am against this, no matter if it is a Dem doing it, as in this case, or the desperate attempt of GWB to prevent the election of Obama by sending out his stimulus checks in 2008. And then, there were Trump's tax cuts in good economic times, putting fuel (borrowed from the future) on the fire.

I am consistent, though, whereas GOP voters, like you, change their opinion like a flag with the wind, depending whether it is a Dem or a conservative who is doing the futile vote buying.

States can't print more money. They use debt instead.

Of course states cant print money. But they can get printed money from the FED ...who cant print money either, though it can order the treasury to print money, which I oppose it being able to do unless its to replace money that has been removed from circulation. I opposed it when it happened under Bush and Obama and Trump as much as I do under Biden.

But you didnt know any of that because you still think everyone is as partisanly biased as you are. I can quote myself opposing Trump printing money outside of this thread. Can you say the same thing for you and Biden?

States get federal money which is printed by the treasury on the authority of the no-so-federal reserve. All of it causes inflation, but never more severely than when its just given away like this.
