(*Sigh!*) Yes, Pro, that's what 'whistle-blowers' do -- they report. The Telegraph’s source, is a person who recently quit the BBC corporation. Now, you can 'throw stones' at that if you want to.... Meanwhile, nobody seems to able to get a peep out of the Global Butterflies organization for a response, or to be able to visit its website which is conveniently 'down for maintenance'.

I plan to keep on following this story until it finally gets 'buried', and I hope you do, too....

Firstly allow me to offer you my very best wishes in your fight against cancer.

I have no particular reason to think there may be anything wrong with the rankings i found, I sought them out because I didn't want to only go be personal opinion.
Ireland is principally a rural country rather than what might be called a modern industrialised one.
You have expanded on your use of the term comfort, thank you. I think most people might agree with you, even though there exists those who are more comfortable with a minimalist lifestyle.
One thing i find interesting is the continual existence of travelling communities, who despite often being able to access traditional 'comforts' still want the itinerant lifestyle.

There isn't much to follow. You bought into the "pronoun = gender" line. Maybe you didn't realize there has always been more than 2 pronouns.

I guess the woman in the top right is a female but has a male left leg?

Wasn't it George Orwell who said there's some things so stupid, only an intellectual will fall for them?

How do you find out someone's nationality, religion, age, relationship status, dietary requirements, language, job... ?

There is a vast difference here. You won't be scorned for not knowing someones nationality, religion, age etc.

I'm at the beginning. I don't even know how far it has metasticized yet. I will learn that in two weeks with a PET scan.

Your opinion may be better than the rankings. They are based in common sense. Rankings are often engineered to promote an agenda.

Dublin has many good sized companies. It is similar many U.S. cities. You won't find them in South Sudan. I live in a rural area of the U.S. I am surrounded by agriculture. We aren't really that different. It is mostly a matter of size.

Choosing to live an uncomfortable life can be nothing more than a exercise in freedom.

It is just a matter of preference and priorities. These people definitely value freedom. There is an island in the Indian Ocean called South Sentinel Island. The people who live there live a fairly primitive life. They value their lifestyle enough that they will kill visitors to their island. Not a good place to vacation.

You've clearly never told a woman in her 40s that she looks 50. :D

Seriously though, you most certainly can get scorned or criticised for misidentifying people on pretty much any of those grounds, often unfairly (though not always - How many Americans have been told to "Go back to where you came from!" just because they don't have white skin?).

And you can certainly be unfairly criticised for misgendering someone - a lot of people are sensitive to that, some overly so. In general though, that won't be the case. If you make an honest mistake, in most cases you'll jus be corrected and everything will carry on as normal. I've seen exactly that happen, multiple times. The major conflicts come about because of people who already know the labels or identity people have but repeatedly and intentionally continue to misgender them to make some kind of point or to try to bully them in to submission or leaving.

When I first meet people I don’t immediately know all the things you mentioned, but I do refer to them as the gender they portray and that’s something you know upon first sight.

That isn't the point. You asked how we're supposed to find out someone's gender identity and the answer is in the same way you would find out a whole load of different things about them. I'd question how many situations you'd absolutely need to know a person's gender on first meeting them anyway.

It's also interesting that you use he word "portray" there. Does that mean you'd consider dress and behaviour over your perception of their physical body. If someone was in a dress and make-up, but you thought they appeared quite masculine, would you assume "he" or "she"?

    No.
The myth is that the BBC LEANS to the left.
Numerous studies have proven this wrong but it is a cheap and easily swallowed view expressed by the right.
The truth about the BBC is that the government has stripped tens of millions of pounds out of it due to an idiot Culture and Sports ministère called Nadine Dorries bootliker suprême to Boris. She has looked foolish many times and is a bit of à joke but she thinks the BBC criticises Bozo and wants to squeeze it.
The result is far more repeat far fewer créative programmes. But stubbornly the news and views programmes continue.
I watch the keynote ones...à daily political roundup of opinion at lunchtime always balanced. One long time BBC political star Andrew Marr quit the BBC earlier because he said he couldn't express his own opinions...the BBC has ensured that presenters' opinion is not to be apparent. Either way.
I now find it bland, flabby and hardly ever watch BBC TV anymore. This is the corporation that supported David Attenborough, great théâtre productions, fabulously funny comédies, glorious nature and informative programmes. Such a pity that the right have wounded and damaged it out of faux political mythology.
It still operates largely by viewer subscription, regulated by govt.

Simple solution to this, if you see it as a problem: don’t work for the BBC.

Yeah... I actually am familiar with the use of pronouns -- but only in three languages.... Have a lovely, disputatious day!

Then how do you confuse them with genders? Well, I guess I know how, - you bought the RT headline.

Oh, I do certainly agree about David Attenborough and others of the BBC's 'Golden Era'... but today?

Although for strikingly different reasons, you and I both seem to feel that the present state of the once-great BBC is one of insipid, uninspired, predictably political drivel....

    That's hilarious.

What's not funny is the instruction that people should be policing each other's use of gender pronouns.

Where do those consultants think they live, East Germany?

Jesus Christ, Vaclav Havel used to write books about that sh*t....

Literally in the first paragraph of the articles. Do you have anything at all that says the consultants didn't tell BBC staff there are more than 150 genders as the Telegraph reports and the RT article about the Telegraph's report? Are you intentionally being disingenuous by saying they didn't say there are more than 150 genders or did you simply just throw crap against the wall to get your post count up again by arguing against the obvious?

BBC staff have been told there are more than 150 genders, and to develop their “trans brand” by declaring their pronouns on email signoffs....
Britain's state-broadcaster BBC hired “trans and nonbinary inclusion” consultants to tell its staff that there are more than 150 genders and instruct them to police each other’s use of gender pronouns, the Telegraph reported on Saturday.

Apparently you are also parroting the RT version of it. Don't blame me for your own gullibility.

"During the sessions, staff were reportedly told that “people can self-identify themselves in over 150 ways, and increasing!”

Even that admits its "reportedly", and to make the story better, RT twisted that into "BBC staff were told there are 150 genders"

You fell for it, and that's on you not me.

Apparently, as expected, you have nothing to dispute the Telegraph's article, which RT reported off of. Obviously, you went on about pronouns, when it clearly says genders and you either were posting without reading, and can't dispute it, or you're being disingenuous. Don't worry we all understand what happens next, you'll claim you were right about them saying pronouns, instead of genders, or you will carry on about RT, when they were reporting on the Telegraph's report.

It's safe to say that no former 'East German' I was ever aware of would do anything but belly laugh at the idea of humanity consisting of anything other than males, females, and... MISTAKES....

    Just screen-grabbed this:

Hmm....looks like Telegraph, not RT, to me.

And what were the 150+ ways those people were self-identifying as, if not genders?

    Chickens?

    A chunk of granite?

    A potato chip?

The lawn mower rusting in my backyard?

True, but they were notorious for spying and snitching on each other.

Perhaps, those consultants should be policing each other's appallingly creepy authoritarian impulses instead? :boo:

One of the damaging éléments has been the rise of social média, Netflix etc and the best scriptwriters go elsewhere.
But for a long time the political interviews, panels etc have been maddeningly blah. I have seen time and again some politician say something patently untrue and the interviewer just lets it pass unchallenged..
The best have now gone to ITV or into that social média.
Anyway, ré your OP, I don't have issues with listening to any current nonsense. And national broadcasters should be aware of as much nonsense as possible. Otherwise the political position will indeed be biased.

Any country that enriched itself because of slavery is certainly not especially great. Similarly men who enslaved their wives are not great men.
