Why don't we admit the obvious and split the country into two?

I'm just asking a question at this point and I've had people on the left and right considering that a question worth asking.

How often do you see that?

I would add that a cult is the exact opposite of my suggestion. In a cult all members are in agreement. I'm considering options for when people are bereft of hope that that can happen. That can occur across the political spectrum so why not try to accommodate that geographically?

So you have had a small percentage of folks on an obscure internet forum show interest in a silly idea.......Congrats.

Offering the option to both sides is not proposing a cult.

    Cults don't propose options.

Because there will never be an equitable agreement to the remaining resources and the trillions of dollars that it would cost to make that sort of split. It would eventually, as you can see already, lead to more violence, and all for what? The minority wanting to rule over the majority.

When large différences threaten the unity and therefore strength of à body, the most effective way to bring it together is a common enemy.
That used to be Russia and latterly, from time to time China.
But instead of standing together and facing threats from outside, the US is chewing itself up from the inside.
I suspect that any body politic ideologically opposed to the US is delighted. It may be part of why Putin has moved on Ukraine. I do know he was pleased when the UK left the EU and myths swirled about its démise.
I also am aware of deliberate attempts to divide the US by using various éléments such as faith based religious pressure and racism, keeping the tensions on the surface by introducing misinformation, exaggeration, simplistic tribal tendances , projection, incomplète selective analysis dépendance on the lower level of understanding and diversion, to keep national unity off balance. I have even seen evidence of it even in here, à relatively ineffectual exchange of views.
I have also seen it spreading throughout the more influential general media. And human tendancy is for confirmation bias which reinforces conflict.
A while ago on a radio programme someone said "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. "
Reality says that it is pointless to expect the perfect. You have to learn to live with compromise.
Something too many have forgotten...mostly because it doesn't guarantee unrestricted power. You have to share.
WW2 taught Europe this lesson. Internal conflict weakens the strength of à cultural, historical and social unity. Strength comes from deciding agreed priorities and moving together to achieve them.
Which is why I return to my first observation. You need a national crisis to force you to focus on what you agree on, and put the rest to the back of your concerns.
Just à last small point...stop thinking other people and places are inferior. They have often been through your issues and can offer suggestions which will save you endless angst.

Is Canada a communist republic or are they just our neighbors to the north who have a different worldview to us but other than that we get along with just fine?

One of the new Americas could be more like that without even remotely resembling a genuine communist regime like the former USSR.

The other could make it ok to take M16s to the supermarket deli.

The US has gone thru and survived worse. The minority of people who do not like what is going on can leave or lump it.

    I beg to differ.
You have never experienced enemy aircraft overhead and watching your neighbourhood turn into rubble. What was your entire street is now piles of dust and bricks.
You have had one instance of it. Imagine that every day.
You have never had your entire lot of possessions in one suitcase and nowhere to go. That one minute your family is standing by your side and the next, is a heap of bloody shattered bones and flesh. Maybe bits of it somewhere else.
You have never had to wonder whether your next step might blow your legs off.
The USA has always made sure those things happen in someone else's country.
Having experienced that, it tends to make you forget what divides you and concentrate on what keeps you strong.

Why don't we admit the obvious and split the country into two?

Because there is no upside to it and a bunch of downside. Really bad idea. It might be easier for you to simply understand that there are opposing positions to yours and there is nothing wrong with that.

Because the only thing obvious about that idea is how incredibly stupid it is.

Or perhaps people who live in MA wouldn't be too keen on having backwater rednecks from MS come there.

I said...you have never experienced it. Nor has anyone in the USA within either their or their ancestors' memory.
In addition there were not aircraft dropping bombs and chemical destruction during the Civil War.
You seem to have no conception of what being at war is. Nor the imagination to appreciate it.
Ask Syrians. They can help you understand.
