Is the US Safe From A Civil War?

I'm not advocating for one, but looking at European history it's not unreasonable to worry that the modern Rome can fall apart like ancient Rome. Sure the US may be surrounded by water and weak neighbors, but within its border it can break apart. If the Democrats in Washington DC keeps trying to take away state rights, it's not just the Republicans from the states who would resist. Democrats from the states would too.

 

Just look at the forum. There are multiple thread here advocating for secession.

 

Nah, liberals do not have the upper body strength for a civil war.

 

The Supreme Court just implicitly ruled that there is no right to privacy. This worries me far more than States rights.

If you want States rights, do you support a State having the right to disregard the 2nd Amendment, and ban guns?

The solution is to legalize secession and let States secede as they wish.

Yeah, I don't want these people in my country. Legalize Secession and stop the looming civil war.

 

Mine is about peaceful protest and making real change toward a more perfect Union by the 1st amendment and non violent change.

 

I'm curious about your opinion on reversing the Incorporation Doctrine. That would allow you to do exactly what you want; California could ban guns and free speech, without leaving the country. I'm convinced something like that is the only way to keep the country together, which I think is still worth it.

 

We do not share the same values or priorities on any subject.
I don't want to share a foreign policy or military policy, any more than I want to share a domestic policy. I think blue states could do virtually everything, much better without having to 'consult' a Congress made up of Red state Trump loving bigotted morons for permission. We don't need you guys dragging us down economically, or militarily or diplomatically. what we want to accomplish through cooperation, when our interests coincide, we can do through treaties between our two separate nations.

There never should have been a civil war. We should have dumped the red states all the way back then.

And I agree 100%: I don't want anyone from a red state having anything to say about MY country. By electing trump and giving him control of the US military and nuclear weapons, they disqualified themselves. They are unfit to be Americans.

 

I can't see a single good reason to stay in this union, except for some practical obstacles presented, in figuring out how to leave it peacefully. Not one major good thing legislatively at the federal level, has happened in nearly a quarter of a century and being as we have been losing out democracy, that is not going to change.

Not to mention that they have been a financial drain on the Blue States for decades. Most of the wealth in the US is generated in Blue States. And we virtually own high tech, defense, and most cutting edge technologies. The Great West Coast States of Califorina, Oregon, and Washington, control over 1300 miles of coastline.

 

Great! Then you agree we should just call it quits. We don't and will never agree on much of anything and we don't want the same countries.

As far as I can tell EVERYONE is losing, by trying to keep the blue states and red states together. They can't make their white nationalist utopia, and we can't make our diverse progressive utopia. Its time to give up and try something else.

 

I'm not even a lefty. I was a Republican for about half of my adult life and Independent the rest. But what we have now in the Republican party has nothing to do with conservatism or anything I ever believed. This is pure insanity.

You just don't get it. Compromise does not work anymore in Washington. It hasn't in almost a quarter of a century because all the people who compromised, got primaried out of office and the base of these parties gets re-elected and they have gerrymandered the districts so that very few are competitive in the first place. Purple has been dyed out of Washing. Its all bright Red or deep blue and that is a trend nobody can stop. We need to separate, so that the two countries can actually pass laws consistent with their needs and interests.

 

Russia and Russian useful idiots can only hope or also help to facilitate it.

 

Oh, yes! And although there is almost NO possibility of a 'civil war, the feasibility of this country splitting into two or three different nations is not an impossible thing to imagine!

Consider how different several pivotal states are now from what they were just thirty years ago! Look at what crime-infested crap-piles some of the states have turned into. Look at the staggering amounts of money they spend on socialism-lite, 'woke' initiatives INSTEAD of measures to adopt stronger law-enforcement. Look at how radical Democrats fawn over illegal aliens pouring into our country, and dish out welfare (yes, take a GOOD look at California recently) for them.

Then, contrast that with the priorities and behaviors of more conservative states -- we're light-years apart, and growing farther apart all the time.... Each of these factions have grown to literally HATE the other... so how long are we going to survive and "ONE nation, indivisible" with all this divisive crap going on...?

 

See, there is no reason you should have to be attached to us and our policies, except some conservatives seem to insist on it. Let us just go! We can have our own separate military, our own separate economic policy, immigration policy, and our own constitutions and legislatures. You can create your Utopia, and we ours!

 

They whine but the only thing that satisfies them is to control us. And they just bet we won't start a full-blown civil war.
