I'm all for Californians paying for Illegals healthcare. I agree that a state should make their own policies and use what ever state tax revenue to pay for it. Heck... They should expand it and give them a guaranteed income. That will change that state red quicker than Jeffery Tubin rubbing one out on a zoom call!

This is a great deal for illegal aliens. Their income is off the books, so the vast majority are considered "low income" even if they take home more than the average worker.

We are discussing the state though. You are all for states rights, yes? Now on the federal level the government absolutely has the ability to provide such through congressional action. And since prior precedent means nothing perhaps a more liberal interpretation of the welfare clause will be in our future.

I would also disagree that the constitution calls for the military we currently have that basically occupies other nations. It was created for defense and to quell insurrection (and they failed on the last one)

Why do you feel it is stupid to make sure our citizens are healthy?

Effective, efficient and obtainable healthcare has been shown to increase life expectancy, decrease disease, decrease emergency room visits and severity (which saves the taxpayer money). It has been shown to create happier and more productive members of society. It increases educational attainment and unwanted behaviors in our children along with decreasing crime across the board.

 

You support illegal immigration for the purpose of increasing representation, therefor you support all that goes with it.

It's stupid for the government to totally fund healthcare. Two reasons: it's unsustainable and it doesn't make everyone healthy.

In California, illegals have exactly the same rights you have except voting. (Unless they check the “citizen” box when getting your driver’s license.) Employment rules are the same also, but with certain restrictions.
The driver’s license has “Federal Limits Apply” in inconspicuous letters. We citizens now have to use “Real ID” for federal purposes like air travel because our California ID is not worth a split nickel.

They work and pay for healthcare because they get paychecks, not cash.

The lack of asking anything from them contributes to the divisive and racist language ghettos.

Well, the details matter. But if it keeps them from using the emergency room for primary and preventable secondary care, it could be a net savings in money, and definitely a net savings in lives.

I don't think healthcare is the same kind of incentive as a job. Nobody really wants to need healthcare, and most young adults don't think they will soon. I haven't recently seen calls for not hiring illegals from the left, but I don't think democrats are unified on immigration other than treating them better than republicans call for.

 

I agree government shouldn’t completely fund healthcare, there needs to be a public option and a private option. It works pretty well in nations that do this and they beat us in life expectancy, citizen happiness, cost effectiveness, infant mortality…

As for the DMV, those are provided at the state level — I have had extremely fast efficient service and miserable service. Recently they have been slow but it is due to antiquated technology and being understaffed. I would prefer them over out local regional hospital monopoly any day of the week

Funny you say that. I've talked to several people in the past few years...including yesterday... who moved from CA to boringish Oklahoma. They have said they miss the weather but will never go back to living there. Conditions are bad...
Yes it's frustrating when states act stupid and self destruct. But we live with it.

 

It's also a great deal for Mexicans who simply want to hop across the border for free healthcare.
I'm guessing no proof will be required that they actually have lived in the state or country for any period of time.

 

Free sh*t for illegals and over 1 Trillion in unfunded pension fund liability for public sector employees such as teachers and police. At some point they will be demanding a Federal bail out.
