When MSM is far from reporting honestly. If Putin reneged, then it must have been for a good reason. I find it very difficult to believe any government as the majority lie as it's their second language. I believe Putin more than I do my own government.
You do remember Edward Snowden, right? He worked for the NSA or such. He knew what was going on and what was to happen in the future. He had the moral & ethical fibre within his being to blow the whistle. Because of the sensitivity of the information leaked, he was hunted. Because what he exposed was unconscionable acts of privacy invasion of the American people. Guess where he fled to? Russia. He is no spy, he just knew that Russia is/was one of the sanest and safest places on Earth. It is MSM that paint BS narratives of people. They either make you a saint or a sinner. I make my own judgements by what I research, as I stay away from the BS propaganda machine, MSM. as it's all about money for them, as the truth doesn't pay that well. BS does.

You stand correct, Putin had a VERY good reason in not co-operating. Those 'volunteers' in Ukraine's Donbass were Russian soldiers without insignia. No 'volunteer' can summon Russia's military Buk missiles.
If your government lies, as UK's Boris Johnson did, then there's a good chance they will be caught out. Remember Clinton's 'I did not have sex with that woman' ?
Well Putin can lie to his own people, ie, 'We won't invade Ukraine' and the next day, 'We are invading Ukraine.' and no-one is going to say, Wait a minute, did YOU just say...?'
