Republicans Took a Woman’s Right to Choose. Now They’re Threatening Her Right to Travel

The U.S. House of Representatives last week passed the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act. The law would have protected the ability to travel from states where abortion is banned to states where it remains legal to receive care. Senate Republicans, led by James Lankford of Oklahoma, have already blocked the measure, characterizing it a solution in need of a problem. “No state has banned interstate travel for adult women seeking to obtain an abortion,” Lankford said. “This seems to be just trying to inflame, to raise the what-ifs.”

Democrats on the ground in Texas, though, are wise to this tactic. It’s one they’ve seen before, and they are urging outsiders and national Democrats to pay attention: The effort to restrict a woman’s right to travel across state lines is already underway.

One week before Lankford made those comments, Yvette Ostolaza, a Dallas-based corporate litigator and the head of the white-shoe law firm Sidley Austin LLP, received a letter from a handful of elected officials in Texas.

    ... https://news.yahoo.com/republicans-took-woman-choose-now-130005755.html

Texas has become quite extremist. Democrats do the country a disservice by ignoring rural districts and allowing these fringe RINOs to radicalize them like this. Now the entire population of several states at least must bear the consequences of this growing alt-right authoritarian movement that has been allowed to grow and fester.

These Texas RINOs in particular are ready to go further to keep women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen, and they use childish, emotional language to try and justify their archaic puritanical ideas about abortion, calling it "murder of unborn children." It is so sad to watch America melt down like this because politicians on both sides have been content to take advantage of this sort of crap for their own gain rather than stand up to it and help keep the country together and on a reasonable path forward.

Counter the article with facts, not kneejerk "fake news" reactions that absolve you of having to address it. Ever since Trump started this whole "fake news" nonsense, folks use it as a blanket dismissal of anything they don't like while also relieving themselves of the work of having to actually counter it.

    We see you.

All fake news to gin up those leftover 15%ers who don't have the education to know something like this isn't possible because interstate travel is a constitutional right.
At least when we see these post we know who the left over 15%ers are who will regurgitate extremist babble.

A RINO is actually a democrat in disguise as a Republican. Republican in Name Only! You can bet these RINO's are not a part of the MAGA crowd. A RINO is a liberals best friend. Don't you people call Manchin a DINO?

Golly.. The hyperbole. What law exists, now that restricts interstate travel? Where is this codified? The moron from the Rolling Stone doesn't seem to know, as evidence by the decided lack of evidence provided. Only the bold faced lie of am assertion: "the effort to restrict a woman's right to travel across state lies is already underway". Ok, where? By whom? what legislation has been adopted that attempts this blatantly unconstitutional measure? Sorry, but scary fantasy reporting doesn't count as real news. This is, as they have suggested, the very worst kind of disinformation. Democrats, by their own BS misinformation board would have to delete this article....

One look at Tessa Stuart’s (whoever that even is) Twitter feed tells one everything they need to know about her. Literally every leftist talking-point is all she babbles about. Sorry Chief, that’s 100% fake news.

The harder road is: document that the article is in any way factual. Since the article hasn't opted to cite any evidence of their stupid assertion. This is how disinformation is spread. Write a factless fake news story, have other "news" agencies report on it, and suddenly, it's legit as a story, with "real" sourcing, (the original BS article) being the basis of this sophistry.

The other side of your same coin is folks, especially on the left, believe they can just publish any lie, and then "demand" as you have, to prove that the story isn't true... Well, it isn't true. And the original article admits it when they couldn't actually cite a law that has in fact limited a woman's interstate travel. Why? Because it's F'in unconstitutional. Who/where has this attempt been accomplished again? Oh yeah, nowhere. So why try to defend this BS?

I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the 14th Amendment. Or, keep believing this Democrat BS to get you hyped about voting Democrat despite the Constitution already handling this.

What does this even mean? Who are these religious fanatics, and what how, as you assert are those unnamed folks going to get worse, and how do you quantify this delivery?

So, given what Tessa wrote in this article, can we agree that Tessa seems to work directly for the CCP? And this gem of a propaganda article is the work output of that relationship?

We must ignore the conservative groups who wrote most of the abortion laws in red states who tell us this is their plan.
We must ignore the state lawmakers who tell us this is their plan
We must ignore red states governors who won’t say they aren’t considering this.
ignore the man behind the curtain!

They have gotten way more vocal about what they intend because they know their base either doesn’t care or will simply make excuses until they can jump to the next talking point.

Here is the most recent from Missouri:

This logic that we can’t do anything until a law gets passed is just silly. This from the same people who said it was fear mongering to say roe would be overturned.

For those supporting gun control, higher taxes, mask/vaccine mandates, gov health care, etc, I hope this makes you reflect on why a bigger, more powerful government is a bad idea.

Where was this concern for a womans right to bodily autonomy when she chose not to consume a pharma product and still wanted to go to work/school? What about her right to protect her body from a rapist/killer with a firearm?

This is nothing more than feigning concern for rights when there is a political benefit.

Rolling Stone earns its reputation by having released shoddy, unreliable stories in the past including but not limited to sexual allegations. Given this, it's a ragtag paper and attaching itself to yahoo doesn't alleviate that. And so yes, it will be discarded as a 'news source' the same way people disregard breitbart or things of the like.

What if a red state governor said they were considering this?
    How about red state legislators?
What about the same conservative groups who wrote abortion laws saying this is what they want?
Why are republicans ignoring the mountains of evidence that this is the plan? Is it gas lighting or wishful thinking?

Once again, the progressive left panderers make women, (one of their favorite special interest groups) to be victims in need of their help. Women can travel anywhere in this country to get their abortions. 37 states allow abortion.

Because apparently Republicans are the only ones with the education to know you can't make any state law that opposes Constitutional law.
But if you do have the education to know the difference but still push these fake narratives, you are the gaslighter.

Lol it’s literally republicans who are talking openly about how they plan to circumvent the constitution to do this.

The Thomas More Society, a conservative legal organization, is drafting model legislation for state lawmakers that would allow private citizens to sue anyone who helps a resident of a state that has banned abortion from terminating a pregnancy outside of that state. The draft language will borrow from the novel legal strategy behind a Texas abortion ban enacted last year in which private citizens were empowered to enforce the law through civil litigation.

The National Association of Christian Lawmakers, an antiabortion organization led by Republican state legislators, has begun working with the authors of the Texas abortion ban to explore model legislation that would restrict people from crossing state lines for abortions, said Texas state representative Tom Oliverson (R), the charter chair of the group’s national legislative council.

In a television interview over the weekend, South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem (R) left the door open to restricting out-of-state abortions in her state, where a trigger ban took effect as soon as Roe was overturned. The governor, who has called a special session to discuss abortion legislation, said the topic may be debated in South Dakota in the future.

No they won’t physically stop them from leaving, that isn’t the claim.
