I had Mcdonald's for supper tonight. I opened the straw for my soda drink and discovered a plastic straw with the red and yellow stripes, not the paper one that they have been using for the past few years.

Yee Haw! The Mcdonald's straws are back, baby!

This means either the greenies lost their argument, or it's been so long that nobody remembers the rules.

Imagine being excited about single use plastic straws… that were never part of the “rules”.

Single use plastics need to be banned

I would much rather see them start frying their fries in beef Tallow again.

Anyhow the McDonald's service around here sucks so I haven't been there in years anyway. I hear the best way to order is just slap a $20 bill down and tell him to surprise you because you never get what you want anyway

I would like to see all businesses stop using heavily processed seed oils, this is harming people, and no one seems to care

Imagine not being able to drink without a straw in the first place?

McDonald's plastic straws have been absent for years. At least in New York state. They've become quite the collectors item.

Yeah no more plastic straws wrapped in paper… just paper straws wrapped in plastic. Genius

Wait…is a grown adult really this excited over a plastic straw? No, that can’t be. The OP must be tongue-in-cheek.

How about you not using them and stop trying to impose your values on everyone else.

If you are ever in Selma Alabama try the McDonald's on US 80. The best McDonald's in the States. Every order checked against cash register. They get the order right every time. Fresh and hot food.

I couldn’t agree more. People shouldn’t impose their values/points of view onto others. That goes for guns, religion, abortion, gambling, drugs, plastic straws etc, etc, etc.

Single use plastics are a huge issue.

As to straws not being an issue:

It’s insane the amount of suffering humans will put on wildlife for a few moments of convenience

I see you are easily swayed by one off situations. That's not reasonable, but on the other hand, you wouldn't hold the position you do if you based your opinions on reason rather than emoting.

Single use plastics polluting our environment isn’t a “one off situation”.

I guess an example was too much nuance?
