Gee I don't know, let's give the old fart a second term to find out whether it's him or whether the world really conspired to put his Presidency in the worst light.

Trump sure is popular....with the people who voted for him anyway. I think Democrats are hoping Trump is the nominee again. They don't have a prayer against DeSantis or someone like that, but Trump is disliked enough outside of the MAGA bubble that a Democrat could beat him. Again. While I don't feel we really needed to be reminded at this point, the Jan 6th hearings have cast yet more light on the despicable way this man conducts himself, and that's without even needing to believe the more outrageous of the claims made at the hearings. His supporters will tell you it's all fake of course, and I couldn't even begin to say whether they've established any criminal conduct, but there's more than enough there to put a sour taste in people's mouths which in turn will remind them of the sour tastes of day's past in 2020.

I don't think Democrats are hoping Trump is the nominee again. How could they with the most recent presidential numbers? Maybe they should try and impeach Trump one more time or dig up some more dirt on him. ;)

Which is lower than the vote he received in 2020 and 2016.

If y’all want to run a man that is about to be indicted, has misappropriated funds from a children's cancer charity, calls America a third world nation and couldn’t even garnish more votes than Hillary Clinton… it says more about y’all than you probably think.

Personally I am hoping for a trump/Greene ticket — fascists on parade 2024

I’d be careful on how I used the word popular or popular with who. I’m positive Trump is popular among Republicans. But in order to win an election, one needs to be popular if that’s the right word with much more than just Republicans. Popularity among Republicans may get Trump the GOP nomination. But not the general election win.

Independents still dislike Trump. Hence, it is doubtful since the Republican Party is still the smaller of the two major parties he can win in the general election. Trump and the Republicans must win independents or lose the election. 34% of independents have a favorable view of Trump today, 57% unfavorable. History has shown folks usually won’t vote for a candidate they dislike. If Trump does win the 2024 Republican nomination, unless the Democrats blow it by nominating another Hillary Clinton who was disliked more by independents than Trump in 2016, he’s bound to lose.

Knowing how much independents dislike Trump, I don’t worry about him nor care what happens to him if anything. I believe nominating Trump in 2024 would be doing the Democrats a huge favor. But that's up to the Republicans, he's their problem.

I didn't make the thread to say he's going to win. I am simply saying in the O/P that the more he is trashed, the higher his approval ratings climb.
By the looks of it, he's ahead of both Biden and Harris too.

Just reminding people that might be on the fence. It isn’t meant for you as I know you couldn't care less.

Nobody cares and I doubt anyone is on the fence. Biden or Harris poses no threat to the Republicans in the next two elections.

    You don't care?
What's coming? They gonna' impeach him again? They have to control the House and that seems highly unlikely.

    Here’s all three of them:

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/other/FavorabilityRatingsPoliticalLeaders.html

Yes, Trump is a point ahead of Biden in favorability. Harris way behind both. I don’t think any of those three will be running in 2024. The main thing is Trump is only popular among Republicans, one can say the same about Biden with Democrats. Harris isn’t much liked, period.

Nominating any of those three would be crazy by whichever party did. Now a lot can change in two years. Obama had a 43% approval rating in August of 2010, he recovered to 53% in November of 2012 and won reelection. Bill Clinton had a 39% approval rating in August of 1994, he also recovered to a 55% approval in November 1996 and also won reelection. Trump had a 41% approval rating in August of 2018 and failed to recover, losing to Biden in 2020.

The big difference is Trump never reached 50% approval whereas Obama was as high as 67% and as low as 40%, Bill Clinton as high as 73% and as low as 37%. Trump never had those swings, he was almost a straight line for all 4 years right around 41% with a few points up and a few points down.

Again, my point was to say that no matter how badly the Democrats, other garden variety never-Trumpers, the 1/6 committee, and the MSM try to keep dirtying him up, the more his numbers climb.

I think the November mid-terms will be a far better barometer than meaningless popularity polls; I think people tend to BS pollsters also their answers today may change in the 2+ years until their opinion actually matters - nOV 2024.

What do they all have in common? They're old men and women who can't lead us into tomorrow.
