    No I don't.

    Before 1900 Republicans had seated 22 African Americans in Congress. From 1901 to 1971 they seated a whole two more. Yep, two. Since then another 9 (one of those is a double up - Tim Scott has been in both chambers). These numbers only cover voting members.

    In that same period Democrats have seated over 125 African Americans in Congress. One of them went on to become Vice President & one President. Over 50 sit in Congress at the moment, compared to a whole three for the GOP.

    Ummmmmmmmmm, this thread is about Democrats wanting to change their first "primary" state (yes, I do know that Iowa caucuses) solely due to race. Your post belongs in another thread. Do you have any comments regarding the thread subject?

    LOL. The very first paragraph backs up my point. They are making a change solely due to race. Whites have to move to the back of the bus.

    Democrats are poised to strip Iowa of its traditional lead-off spot in the presidential nominating calendar in 2024, part of a broader effort to better reflect the party’s deeply diverse electorate by allowing less overwhelmingly white states to vote first.

    Inheritance is one issue.

    But, I think the bigger issue is the inequality in how kids get educated and enabled to enter our economy on their own and make something of themselves.

    Usually, inheritance comes later.

    Right, but he kept claiming I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. A silver spoon refers to wealth passed down/inherited. I was not born with a silver spoon. Might I have had some advantages poor people didn’t? Sure, but poor people come in all races.

    Again, I don't think that's the important part.

    A silver spoon gets full educational opportunity, startup money for creating a private enterprise, an advantaged entrance into the business that brought the parent's wealth, etc.

    Think of Bill Gates being raised by one of the nation's leading foreign trade lawyers as a father and a mother who was on the boards of directors of a good number of prominent corporations.

    Think of the education just at the dinner table, and the consultation services thereafter.

    Obviously, that's an extreme example, but it shows that there are other dimensions to "silver spoon".

    The percentage of one race should not affect our constitutional call for equal treatment.

    Also, it is a serious advantage for America to have all citizens as productive as possible.

    We can't afford to lose the smart brains we have just because they are housed in some particular skin color.
