    Don't worry I'm sure a Lefty will be along shortly to tell us that more people would have died if it would have been guns....

    We need to ban these dangerous assault knives right now!

    So you know the perp was a good shot? You know that he would have brought some super duper weapon and not a small revolver? You know that he would have lots of ammunition? Ok... we're back to the Crystal Ball...

    The areas attacked are hunting and fishing communities. They probably have a higher gun ownership rate than your average Texan town

    No. In Iraq they gave me a rifle.. and being an Artilleryman, my orientation was to shoot at the bad guys long before a knife could be used by anyone.

    I never made any statement at all about the relative lethality of knives and guns. I simply said that there many TYPES of guns. Some have lots of capacity, some have very little, some have short range, some have long range... and some people know how to shoot, others don't. I suspect that the perp in this case didn't know a gun from a tool box or he would have used one. There are simply too many variables to make statements like yours.

    Silly scenario. There's a world of difference between two people meeting up for a pre-planned fight, ready and focused... and a guy with a five round revolver in the middle of a crowd shooting wildly and having to make a time consuming reload. Apples and space shuttles.

    Guns are used for competition, tinkering with like some folks tinker with cars, hunting and more. My guns are also a comfort. When you are in a private plane its nice to know there's a parchute under the seat. Best to have it and never need it than to need it and not have it. Insurance policies are like that. And so are guns. I store my insurance policies right with my guns as a matter of fact. Tell the families of the dead murdered with a knife in Canada that knives are only for eating.
