If my attacker continues to pursue me, and I can't get away, I'm going to draw my firearm at low ready and warn them that I will shoot them.

If they continue to advance on me having seen my drawn firearm and having been loudly warned, then it's already a fight to the death.

I then checked the gun deaths per 100,000 population of the US against other countries. You can find the data at: List of countries by firearm-related death rate - Wikipedia

Based upon the data, your suggestion must be considered as opinion, not fact.
