It has charms. Less beholden to profit shareholders, more beholden to citizens. Citizens, however, include the wealthy who benefit by sending vast quantities of money who will get them legislation that benefits them, the shareholder, the most.

A head of state without power could potentially neuter something likeTrump. He may, personally, be an unstoppable foot-in-mouth person, though. The UK has had foolish PMs, but the Crown can destabilize a tense situation with a diplomatic state dinner , for example.

it's a money maker for the 1% that's for sure. I've heard the figure £6b cost for the taxpayer for the nonesense this week.

    It's a big scam

The diplomatic sensitivities around the event are interesting.
A Chinese délégation is not allowed to view the lying in state but Xi is invited to the funeral. Something to do with personal sanctions China has placed on individual members of Parliament , I understand.
A diplomatic nightmare around someone constitutionally politically neutral.

Did Queen Elizabeth ever advocate or authorize violence against anyone or against any of the colonies?

Or is your difficulty that she failed to use her unlimited (that is, non-existent) powers to stop violence?

You people are little different from the French mob that terrorized France and murdered innocents in the 1790s in the name of "The People!" The people stink.

God help us if you ever get power yourself.

as the figurehead of the British empire she had a duty to her subjects, a moral responsibility to help protect human rights by putting pressure on the british armed forces involved in human rights abuses and torture, specifically in Kenya, where she visited and also became queen. She failed the Kikuyu miserably and that is a very generous understatement.

All of the platitudes about her character we are now being forced to listen to fail to acknowledge the complicity in these events with her silence.

There's two explanations; either the crown care not for their subjects outside of UK, or they were used and manipulated to do the governments bidding abroad by means of cooerction. Either outcome is one of guilt and shame, not pride (pride is a sin according to holy scripture anyway)

In 1947 when she was 21 she became Duchess of Edinburgh.
This became her title until she became Queen on the death of her father.

Since her mother and father were the Duke and Duchess of York, the then Princess Elizabeth was born Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth of York.
When her father became king, the then Princess Elizabeth went from Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth of York to Her Royal Highness The Princess Elizabeth, since King George VI (formerly Prince Albert) no longer held a dukedom.

Shop owners, hotel owners, restaurant owners, etc. all benefit from tourism. When a local restaurant makes money, they hire more people. More people working means... well, hopefully you can fill in the rest.

How does that "tourism" in the city of London (a tiny area, the size of a gnats sphincter) benefit the 99% of Britain?

They just love their false idols.

In the Christian religion, a Biblical verse makes and eerily similar statement about false prophets.

These ppl (the royals) are absolutely worshipped in the UK for some unknown reason. It is fanatical for no apparent purpose. It's like ppl have a gaping hole in their life that they fill with .....I'm lost for words.

It certainly isn't spiritual or godly. I'm leaning towards satanic ATM, like a ritual of some sort.

Baphomet: is a deity allegedly worshipped by the Knights Templar[3] that subsequently became incorporated into various occult and Western esoteric traditions.[4] The name Baphomet appeared in trial transcripts for the Inquisition of the Knights Templar starting in 1307.[5] It first came into popular English usage in the 19th century during debate and speculation on the reasons for the suppression of the Templar order.

Honestly, this character is strongly linked to the royal family, I'm going to do a little research.

I already did. You rejected the premise that tourism brings dollars to locals. There are castles all over the UK. People go to see them. They buy food and room and trinkets. This keeps business afloat.

The funeral and next year's coronation will be a great advertisement for the British tourism industry.
They are likely to be the most watched events in the history of the world.
The weddings of Charles and Diana and William and Kate are both in the top ten list of most watched events bringing in estimated worldwide audiences of over a billion each.
In comparison the moon landing only brought in 600 million and 9-11 doesn't even make the top ten.
The most watched Super Bowl ever in 2015 a mere 144 million.

That's interesting, they could have a rail strike like we could (perhaps even at the same time?):
