I don't think the entire state are liberal, only the corrupt leadership. A million illegals would change about every independent voter's mind on politics and a solid number of African Americans who are fighting for jobs as well plus a few Democrat voters who are not so far left. Would be easy enough to sway a vote with a million illegals. Easy peasy.

On the base they are getting shelter, food, clothing and healthcare. Seems a far better deal for them getting all that. And since you care about their well being you should be happy.

I don't see what is illegal about buying somebody a bus ticket.

Otis Base is a small base with just a Coast Guard aviation unit and an Air National Guard. There really isn't much there. It's not what I want, it's what the migrants want and MV is exactly where they should be and not confined to a military base, but if that is what you want for them who can argue?

They aren't at Otis. How do you know what the migrants want?
They presumably came from a bad situation. Now they have shelter, food, clothing and healthcare…I’d venture to guess they’re pretty god dang happy right about now. It I get it…you need something to be rage about. Rage on.

Since you aren't familiar with the military base on Cape Cod you didn't know Otis was renamed Joint Base Cape Cod. Yes happy to be confined on a military base. This will also prevent freedom of the press access to any news agency not friendly towards the Biden Administration.

You do realize wherever they are they would be “confined” or do you think they all took their cars to MA?

Your ignorance on the southern border is astounding. They are free to walk around because there is no places available for the approximately 2 million who have crossed the border in the last year. Get your head out the sand.

WHOOSH...went right over your head. I was referring to whether they were on the Vineyard or at the base, either way they are "confined" to a point because of lack of transportation. If you're not going to put an effort into following a conversation then you're just wasting my time. Hell, who am I kidding...you've already wasted it with your trolling. Have a fun time trolling alone.

Uber, and the nice white liberals on the Cape will be happy to drive them around town if they can get off base privileges. Since they were moved to the base I haven't been able to get any more info on their situation. Have you?

No one does. The reality is that the Biden administration has ramped up deportations and prosecutions of migrants crossing the southern border illegally amid a 21-year high in migrant arrests.

Republican governors trying to exploit the mass exodus for their partisan purposes are shamelessly using desperate families seeking asylum from authoritarian dictators. Apparently, these Republicans have suddenly concluded that all must be hunky-dory in Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, regimes they had previously condemned.

DeSantis has falsely claimed that his ruse is needed to protect Floridians, but he funds his self-promotion with $12 million of taxpayer money to trick asylum-seekers in Texas.

Rather than contriving such stunts to wee wee up xenophobes, these showboats should be pressuring Congress to enact comprehensive immigration reform.

No one turned their back, ffs. Drama queens on the right seem to think that sheltering and feeding and seeing to any imminent health concerns is not "turning their backs." That's reiterating right wing spin. Turning them over to the federal government was also not "turning their backs," it was getting them to those who are prepared and equipped to help.

Someone made a snarky remark earlier on this thread about all the B&B places on Martha's Vineyard. What nonsense. These people want jobs more than anything else, something in very short supply on a resort Island entering the down time of fall and winter. They didn't endure such a rough and dangerous journey to our border in order to get stuck on a small island, ffs.

It's probably a good thing that Trumpians don't do much thinking ... they'd be even more dangerous.

You're hopelessly mired in the narrow views of the unthinking. What have you read about these immigrants that makes you hate them? Or are you simply parroting far right hyperbolic rhetoric so that you don't have to actually do the homework and think for yourself?

No one invited them. Most fled for their lives from the violence and butchery of governments and gangs. Be grateful that you aren't in their shoes, you wouldn't make it one mile, let alone thousands.

As I said, you are welcome to live in fantasy land all you want, but this is real and it happened and no spin can undo it!

You seem very angry. I'm sorry to add to your agitation, but you are completely wrong on this one.

    https://www.deseret.com/2022/9/19/2...on-desantis-florida-migrants-sanctuary-cities

"The residents of the Massachusetts island worked quickly to care for the unexpected arrivals. Cots were set up at a school; a Spanish-language Mass was arranged, and, ultimately, the National Guard was summoned to help migrants get to where they actually intended to go."

Martha's Vineyard is not equipped to process immigrants, and it was not where those immigrants wanted to go. They were misled in order to get them on board that plane. The people of Martha's Vineyard did the best they could under the circumstances. They fed them, saw to any hurts, found temporary shelter for them, and made them as comfortable as possible, considering that they had no notice whatsoever.

Also, what makes you think that the residents of the island are all Democrats? That's an assumption based on blind, uninformed hatred. Doesn't all of that fear, hate, and anger weary you?

Benefits of being at the base versus on their own at a Airbnb...

Migrants at the base are being provided with food, drinks, clothing, and hygiene kits, as well as services for mental health, healthcare, and crisis counseling. The state also said it is providing access to legal services, and assistance with temporary housing and children's education.

While they were reaching out to individual owners of aribnbs and hotels to try to coordinate where all 50 could be housed, where were they supposed to stay? They were able to get into the base immediately. Not to mention what they are getting at the base versus being at a aribnb...

There are vacancies. Just pay for the rooms.
MV held itself out as a sanctuary, and they can afford to meet all the needs of 50 illegal aliens with their pocket change. Surely you know that.

You clearly don't know what "sanctuary city" means. Again, where were they supposed to stay while the rooms were being coordinated? You think the residents, with a median household income, are supposed to pay for rooms, food, clothing, healthcare, etc? You really don't understand the whole "sanctuary city" thing.

I think its funny you keep saying the same thing and act like you are the ONLY one who knows what a Sanctuary City is.
Yes, we all know (not just you) that it flies under the guise of making cities "safer" because illegals won't hesitate to report crimes due to no fear of deportation.
With that being said, you conveniently ignore the part about them being here ILLEGALLY and how they get shielded from DEPORTATION. DEPORTATION is what happens to people here ILLEGALLY (or what should happen according to the law)
I'm going to remind you of this EVERY time you feel the need to keep saying the same thing over and over and over again. I can do that as well!

Nope...I haven't ignored that because I've already stated I don't agree with the sanctuary BS. To me, if you're here illegally and caught you should get sent packing to where you came from.
I gotta say...do you ever get tired of being wrong about me??? Hahahaha
