China knows it's an empty threat from an empty suit. Nobody takes Biden seriously.

 

It is better than doing nothing to deter China.

 

Having an addled man make empty threats that he can't back up is not better than doing nothing. It devalues the power of the office.

the Bush wars have put us in a place I am not sure we can recover without a lot of pain

course the real issue is Corporate greed, the American worker is going the way of the work horse.... replaced by foreigners, Automation and Artificial Intelligence

It can deter China only as long as China thinks that the US could actually make good on defending Taiwan. If they had tried something in 1992, we could have easily beaten them back. In 2022? Very unlikely.

I think you are very seriously overestimating the Chinese military. They have a great number of men and very little else

 

I think the Chinese military is a lot better compared to the US now, then thirty years ago, and I expect the Chinese military to continue to get better compared to the US in the future.

I don't disagree that the wars have damaged our military, but the country is continuing to damage our preparedness right now, by shipping weapons systems and ammunition to Ukraine without the ability to replace our own stocks and worst of all, draining our Strategic Oil Reserve. We can't fight any sort of war in these conditions.

 

I do not mind shipping weapons there, just no boots on the ground

 

Well if you are going to be prepared for a war, you kind of need those weapons and ammo for your own troops.

OK but you are missing the point. His comments may not deter anything but there is a chance and doing the opposite certainly wouldn't deter anything. Trying to deter doesn't cost a dime or a life.

 

He has devalued the power of the office. His actions have been disastrous except for this one. It is an attempt to do the right thing.

 

I think this is a deliberate policy, strategic ambiguity.

Chinese don't really know what will happen, and they won't risk it.
Frankly, I dont think the US has decided either, it will be known if the Taiwan invasion happens.

 

That's a very good point, but it seems to me whoever is governing knows very well what they want to do. They want to advance the woke agenda advanced by WEF and other players. ESG and the woke agenda work to destroy societies, including ours.
