Untrained, inexperienced soldiers thrown onto the battlefield aren't capable of much but dying.

 

My first assignment as an Officer was XO/Commander of a Basic Training Company... best job I ever had since Drill Sergeants are the cream of the crop. Later, I Commanded an Artillery Battery where training and maintenance were most of what we did. Later, I was an O/C at the National Training Center. The US Army concentrates on training. And rightly so. I had the opportunity to return to my roots with an Iraqi Basic Training Company as a contractor in later years.

As someone who has actually experienced combat, let me explain how your mind works when you actually are getting shot at. Training takes over. Your actions become automatic. If you take the time to look around, think about it, figure it out, identify options and decide what to do... you're already dead. Properly trained, you will simply react. You've done it before (under less stressful conditions), but you recognize what is happening and already know what to do. This extends beyond individual Soldier actions. When Captain McMasters (later General McMasters) took his small task force and decimated an entire Iraqi Division in Desert Storm, everyone wanted to know how he did it. When asked, he simply said, "I've done this before... at the National Training Center".

The Art of War is a major object of study at West Point... we studied it constantly.
So far you have insulted me and then played high and mighty as the source of all knowledge about war, but you have yet to say anything specific about what your difficulty is. I said that throwing troops into battle with no training will get them killed. Can you stop with endless insults and discuss the issue? Explain what the heck you are talking about without the insults?

 

Stating that you have no clue about the art of war is not an insult. The art of war is a very complex matter, it's understandable that you and many others like you are unaware of the issues involved, like you assuming conscripts are not only going onto the frontline untrained but going onto the frontline at all.

They are untrained, poorly equipped, and they definitely will be on the frontlines. Putin does nothing but lie. Always.

 

"Conscripts" are civilians that are drafted or otherwise compelled to join the military. RESERVISTS are trained but not an active duty. Conscripts are untrained, newly brought into the military and are NOT RESERVISTS. The setbacks that Russia is experiencing now will not be solved by bringing untrained civilians into the military to be clerks, linguists, veterinarians or lawyers. Putin needs combat troops NOW.

It appears you are looking through a narrow lens at a small picture you have painted for yourself. This is assuming you have no intel on the deployment of conscripts.

American "grunts" can do the traditional work of an Infantryman. In addition, they can operate complicated terminally guided anti-tank weapons, complex navigational systems like GCCS (Global Command and Control System), sophisticated night vision systems, and more. The days of screaming spear chuckers are long gone.

 

I'm asking how you came to the conclusion you have about conscripts deployment. Do you have hard intel or is it propaganda?
