    She Was Worth the Trouble

One of the many remarkable things about Nancy Pelosi is that she was the first woman to become speaker of the House and yet this historic accomplishment isn’t anywhere near the top of her resumé. She wasn’t a token or a barrier breaker. She was an uncommonly effective speaker.

She practiced good politics. The Democrats had a long, successful run under her leadership. She kept her caucus mostly in the center of where the Democratic party was. None of that is really up for debate. It’s the shared opinion of basically everyone who pays attention to this stuff seriously, on both sides of the aisle.

Democrats and Republicans differ in their value judgments about the merits of the policies Pelosi helped enact. But if the question is: Was Nancy Pelosi an effective leader and do you wish your party had someone like her? Well, there’s no difference of opinion on that.

    https://thetriad.thebulwark.com/p/she-was-worth-the-trouble

I wonder if it's possible for those on the Right to take a step back, put their hatred aside, briefly forget about the decades long campaign to demonize her, and appreciate Mrs. Pelosi for what she was. One of the most consequential politicians, male or female, of the last 15 years having been elected Speaker in 2007.

Perhaps her crowning achievement was how, seemingly against all odds, she shepherded the ACA through the House and to ultimate passage. Due to Repub sabotage it has not been the transformational legislation many hoped for but it has done a tremendous amount of good for the public's health.

Despite her disarming smile she was as tough as nails. Standing up to Trump's boorish bullying more than once. I think the reason she was so hated and demeaned by those on the Right is simply because they couldn't take how effective she was. Here's to you Nancy. May the Dems be so lucky as to find another Speaker, when that day comes, just like you.

I don't think she was a good speaker at all. She was a divisive hack. But she is one of the best stock investors of all time.

She's a commie. I would say good riddance, but she'll be replaced by another commie.

ms pelosi has been a great speaker but i knew it would be tough to get everyone to agree on this one. it took two replies to get @Wild Bill Kelsoe to use the "c word,"b (communist) and @Xyce to call her a great capitalist ("greatest invester of all time")

She's not retiring, only stepping down from leadership, as she had promised, to allow young blood, to migrate to the top of the caucus. She will not be hard to replace: she will be impossible to replace. But make no mistake, Hakeem Jeffries, or whoever steps into her shoes, I guarantee you, will seek out, and rely upon, her sage counsel.

    Appreciate what Nancy Pelosi was?”

No way. She was the symbol of arbitrary, irresponsible big government. “You’ll have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it.” Hee hee!

    Disgusting!
She was queen of putting together giant bills that no one could read or understand, and getting them passed. No one knew what was in them until the government stared implementing them.

On top of that, she made herself rich by using insider information that was available to her because of her position. Anyone else who did that in her position was run out of office, but not her.

She is dishonest, divisive and totally arrogant. Could you imagine the reaction if a Republican Speaker of the House had made a public display of ripping one of Obama’s State of the Union speeches in half? There would have been national outrage at such a childish act.

I have long held that Nancy Pelosi is the worst person in government, and I’m very glad that she is on her way out, I hope. Like the other political vampire, Hillary Clinton, one can never be sure when she might rise from her political coffin and terrorize the body politic again.

So was Richard Nixon, and no one is wishing for the return of “the good old days” when he was in power. Finally the nation will be rid of her, I hope.

She was good at hurting America for her party's and her own personal benefit.

She is a corrupt **** and deserves no thanks or any accolades.

Of this there is no doubt.

So was Pelosi. She would still be there if the Democrats had held the House.

Mrs. Nancy Pelosi proved that an educated, intelligent, politically astute woman can rise to the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America.

Mr. Donald Trump proved that anyone can become President of the United States of America.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

I don't know they say Hillary was a pretty crack shot at investing in cattle futures... Which
she know nothing about but turned a quick fortune on...

Nancy pelosi will always be remembered for her childish disrespect of the office of the President during the State of the Union address where she childishly ripped up the speech behind the President's back.

Well whatever that means. Pelosi is a corrupt career politician who never did anything good for the taxpayers of this country, yet she is celebrated by some. Interesting.

Newt Gingrich. I never liked Dennis Hastert. All I could think of when I saw him was ineffective, inarticulate political hack, before the sex scandals emerged. John Boehner was all talk and no action. Paul Ryan was a RINO who sabotaged the Republican program. It’s been a long time since we have had a good House Speaker.

The only ways politicians like Pelosi give up power are death or getting forced out of office. I can’t think of the last House Speaker who left voluntarily.

    TOO MANY WORDS.

    'Good Riddance" would have sufficed.
In recent years, she destroyed her own legacy, and acted shamefully and selfishly.

I never liked Pelosi, she was way too partisan for me. But she was one political savvy speaker. The partisanship is a result of today’s modern political era of polarization, the great divide and the super, mega, ultra-high partisanship shown by both sides of the aisle. My ideal speaker will never rise, not in today’s modern political era. I also dislike McCarthy for the same reasons. But McCarthy isn’t as political savvy as Pelosi.

Knowing the game is only respectable when you play by the rules.....
The partisan gap has widened to a canyon, because people in congress have forgotten who they work for, what their job is, the fact that they are supposed to act with honor in every circumstance, and that their duty is to the nation instead of the party or themselves.

The best cheater at the table is still less worthy than any honest player.

Why are you mentioning me? I have not contributed to this thread, until now.

As for what I think about Pelosi, well, she's the epitome of corruption, and the voters who voted for her are hypocrites, especially when it comes to Covid, during which, during the lockdowns, she went into a business to get her hair done, thus, per your side, she was killing grandma.
