For the last seven years or so, the American people have been on an emotional and political rollercoaster. The ride has been terrifying. They elected Joe Biden president in 2020 in an effort to escape the thuggery, violence and pathological lies of the Trump era, but Donald Trump and the Republican fascist movement made that impossible. America's democracy crisis as epitomized by Trump's coup attempt and the Capitol attack of Jan. 6, 2021, has not ended.

Nobody knows. What I do know is that it is nuts to believe what a lawyer says about a political issue.

I think his base will be providing much entertainment on TV. Let’s hope they are met with a more competent force than they faced at the Capitol (not advocating violence of course).

I believe there are a couple of possibilities. Since the Orange Stain announced his candidacy as a means to stay out of jail by, in his mind, further hampering the investigation into his criminal activities, this may lead to a political intervention by the RNC.

Since the RNC doesn't want the political baggage associated with the Orange Stain's antics to hamper their candidates but they DO want the votes to go to Republican candidates, they may strike a deal that allows him to stay out of jail as long as he doesn't seriously run and encourages his voters to support the party's choice(s). If he remains too much of a loose cannon, they might just throw him to the wolves as long as they can set up conditions where his fall doesn't hurt the party or their candidates. The state prosecutions that are ongoing will be harder for the RNC to effect since the upside for a win by a local official far outweigh any downside, especially in areas that are already hostile to the Orange Stain.

I do think there will be additional indictments. Where it goes from there is anybody's guess. ( trial or deal )

He will be indicted. He will never go to jail, it is impossible to ever seat a jury. I predict he will eventually be pardoned by Biden.

Being indicted will only make him more of a martyr to his followers.

Those undercover FBI agents should never have advocated for violence at the Capitol. I believe someone has an entrapment defense.

The protest was scheduled but no additional security was provided. In fact the security was made up of a small number of Capital police. Further evidence of entrapment?

Make up any story you wish, but Trump is going down worse than Benedict Arnold. Keep making excuses for the most unpatriotic man in the USA.

If you don't mind, and are willing to consider, a little constructive criticism: because this is a long article/interview, I would expect anyone who wanted to base a thread upon it to:
    A) give a brief summary, in their own words, highlighting the central points; and
    B) excerpt at least one, or more, Snips, from the piece.

Without any indication of whether this lawyer's opinion is worth my time-- after having read a longer portion of your article, than are some linked articles, in full-- I am not going to read, further. I think your setting up this thread, so that the only ones who will be informed, will be those who'd gone out of their way, without any promotion, by you, of the article, will result in a thread full of more clueless comments, than average.

There are so many, practical, disqualifiers, in that sentence, it is almost difficult to know where to start. But I will limit myself to the question, what makes you think that the Republican Party, has any ability to "strike a deal," concerning what our Department of Justice (or state courts) will do? The GOP has no "pull," to exercise.

Again, how could the RNC possibly "set up (those) conditions?" No personal offense meant, but neither of your two scenarios, seem based in reality. You are envisioning the RNC having much more discretion over how things will play out, than they in fact have.

This feeds people what they are eager to consume. People are also eager to consume terms like "threat to democracy, fascism, and attempted coup."

Dems have produced results that cannot be used to sell the brand, so "trump is ba'a'a'a'd" is their only move at this point.

From my position of opposing all unnecessary government power, I see both parties are working in the direction of authoritarianism. Dems are just a little worse.

I mentioned that the RNC will have little or no pull at the state level. On the national level, they have the ability to facilitate any prosecution. For example, they can tap one of their brethren on the shoulder and tell them to help with cooperation or testimony. They can also have Republicans in senior positions start making public statements against the Orange Stain's interests. They can also interfere with his fundraising and/or his legal support.

    Don't sell them short.

After 6 years of trying multiple angles, maybe the left will finally have something I can agree is criminal.

Until then, all these witch hunts just look like sour grapes.

The political roller coaster is 100% being driven by the left.

Ya, I have used that line a hundred times in regard to the DNC, and their base toppling statues, American literature, wordage, race and the dozens of other historical points they hide from ;)

The new DoJ seal: “Show me the Man and I’ll find the Crime”.

It's not a story it's a fact. And spare me your patriotic BS and a treasonous Trump needed to be taken down. Democrats have been going after him since he started campaigning for the 2016 election. This is nothing more than a corrupt party trying to remove a political opponent just like a third world country. It's Biden who is the most unpatriotic man in the US.
