    First, briefly about the author.
James G. Rickards is an American lawyer, economist, investment banker, public speaker, media commentator, and writer on finance and precious metals. He is the author of Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis (2011) and six other books. Now lives in Connecticut.
Education: BA (Hons) from Johns Hopkins University, Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law
He has held senior positions at Citibank, Long-Term Capital Management and Caxton Associates. Worked on Wall Street for a total of 35 years.

    Clever man.
However, anyone with a brain understands that the Russians will win without much effort.
Russians in Ukraine use only up to 10% of their military forces, and with a minimum number of forces easily resist the collective west.
The Russians are increasing the territory of Russia, they are driving Ukraine into the Stone Age, as well as Europe. For example, the British minister urges the British not to fight and not to ask for an increase in wages (despite the giant jump in prices for everything). And, not knowing what pretext to refer to, he yells that by increasing salaries, the British are helping Putin. "Nurses must drop pay demands to ‘send clear message to Putin’, cabinet minister says" https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nurses-strikes-inflation-zahawi-putin-b2238518.html
Also, the Russians are destroying the dollar as the main reserve currency and creating a new world order. And this is only when using 10% of its military potential.
And it must be admitted that the Russians made excellent use of the "smoke screen in the economy." Russians are masters in general of hiding the true greatness of Russian power. Bismarck also remarked - "Russians are never as weak as you think."
How is Sun Tzu? "Being strong, pretending to be weak"?
And suddenly, economically "weak" Russia has a huge budget surplus, export revenues increased by 10%, Russia's external debt decreased by 25%....etc.

    And at the same time..
US Strategic Petroleum Reserves continue to fall. https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=WCSSTUS1&f=W
Global manufacturing PMI hit a 29-month low in November. https://www.pmi.spglobal.com/Public/Home/PressRelease/f77b312d47774dcc8895840bdfc6f3b9
    [IMG]
The most interesting picture. The "two percent economy torn to shreds" managed to gain a foothold in the positive zone, losing first place to the Hindus. While almost the entire "prosperous" West has not the best performance.
The US personal savings rate continues to fall catastrophically. The October result is 2.3%.....

In general, we can only repeat the words of the author - Sorry, Russia's Winning the War

Sorry, it isn't. Yet another thread that will be good for a laugh in a few months.

If you really think Jim Rickards is good at prediction I suggest you buy gold. He is predicting it will get to $US10,000 soon. He has been predicting that for over a decade, during which time the highest gold has hit is about $US2300. Currently gold is dropping. Yep, he is the guy I want to go to for predictions - someone who is apparently immune to the total failure of past predictions.

2009 - Gold did not reach $2000 an ounce in 2010 and has never gone higher than $2300.

    2010 - Nope, didn't happen.

2012 - Price actually dropped by $1000 by the end of 2015 and only got over $2000 as a result of COVID.

    2013 -
Now we can throw in the collapse of the international monetary system. Must have missed that.

2015 - The gold price rose by a few hundred dollars by the end of 2015, flatlined for a couple of years & then dropped again.

2016 - Still predicting $10,000 gold, and tha tis at the 'low end'.

There have been similar predictions since 2016, but I've spent enough time on this. Fair to say that this guy's predictive abilities are questionable and he is great at ignoring things that disprove his assertions. Perfect for Putinistas wanting to avoid reality.

Perhaps 'winning' is defined by the number of dead Russian soldiers brought back to their families? The more, the better?

Russians are fighting in Ukraine with the collective West. Almost all the weapons of the Ukrainian army are supplied by their NATO countries. All intelligence information is provided by the West. Thousands of Western mercenaries and instructors are the West's contribution to the fight against the Russians. Unprecedented economic, political, media pressure against Russians is the contribution of the West....etc.
But as we can see, the Russians still win.
And it must be admitted that the Russians are winning not only in Ukraine.
For example, the Russians drove the French out of Africa. All! The French have no influence in Africa at all.
The Russians are destroying the dollar system, and they are doing it successfully. For example, Ghana has officially announced that interstate settlements will be made in gold. And this is little Ghana. ...And many more examples of successful Russian actions.
You look at Europe. Britain is in a severe recession, the French Macron is yelling that "France needs to try to survive this winter" ... And this is in the 21st century!....Germany is on the brink of economic collapse....
And against this background, the Russians feel amazing - with a huge budget surplus, with a huge increase in export revenues, with a 25% reduction in external debt (By the way, as you by know, war is a costly business. But the Russians have a big advantage and big profits (including new territories within Russia))
And if we judge the Russian special operation in Ukraine by the number of losses ... the ratio is 1 to 10 in favor of the Russians.

How exactly does citing an author who projects and asserts opinions with zero supporting evidence make your own unsupported opinions more credible?

    oh that’s right. It doesn’t.

When you have nothing to object to, do you always try to defame the author? :roflol::roflol::roflol:

The writer of the OP isn't qualified to offer an opinion on military operations. Why not find an opthamologist to offer their military analysis?

And if this opinion is somehow legitimate, why are the Russians fleeing their positions?

I see that new "Soviet" propaganda material has not been disseminated for today as of yet?

Prove it. You can't because even a cursory look at Ukrainian forces would show you that most Ukrainians weapons are from the Soviet era.

I wonder why the head of the European Commission, a gynecologist by education, Ursula von der Leyen, has the right to speak out about the situation in Ukraine, the losses of the Ukrainian army, talk about the economy ... etc., or the same Ronald Reagan, an actor who could be the President of the United States and manage economics and politics, but the author of the post cannot express his opinion?
    You have double standards.

They have the right to express opinions. Which is distinguished from credibility. You didn't know that?

Their credibility to the extent that it relies on their military knowledge and experience is minimal; but their information is supplied by military people with deep experience. Accordingly, their credibility is irrelevant.

These Soviet weapons are collected from all over Europe. Mostly from the countries of the former Eastern bloc. Western countries also buy Soviet weapons in the Middle East and Africa, that is, in those countries where the USSR supplied weapons.
    Turn on your brain.

Not surprised. Another dipshit they go to for information is Scott Ritter.

He's gotten previous predictions so very wrong...writes articles for RT and is also a pedophile.

Very fitting for Russian bots to be looking towards for opinions and info.

10% of conventional military capacity? No. 10% of cannon fodder? Maybe. Your spin doesn't change the fact that Russia fell far below expectations. We thought they were a major military power, and yet can't even decisively and quickly take out a country like Ukraine. They should have occupied the whole country months ago and slowly be bled out by an insurgency, not this pathetic incompetence. Russia certainly ought to win a war against Ukraine, eventually, and we ought to treat them worse than North Korea for it.
