    Wrong

I read it all the time in the eighties. It was required reading in many college history and poly sci classes.

The reality is that the USSR was a dystopian nightmare and the west was nothing like the government propaganda required in Pravda

While we're talking about Soviet/Russian publication I would like to interject something.

Back in the early 1980s the U.S. govt. started publishing a large glossy book-pamphlet called "Soviet Military Power" about every year until the Soviet Union collapsed. Lavishly illustrated with both actual pictures and conceptual artwork it detailed the scale of the buildup of the military power by the U.S.S.R.

In response the Soviets put out a competing publication called "Whence the Threat to Peace" that did the same for the U.S./ NATO.

About 20 years in an obscure used book store I found and bought a copy of "Whence the Threat to Peace". As an added bonus I found a letter inside by someone from the Soviet embassy back in the 1980s thanking the publisher for sending him a copy

100% free education at any level.
100% free medicine of any level.
    Anyone could get free housing.
    100% paid vacation
100% paid sick leave of any length.
    100% paid parental leave
    Lack of unemployment...etc
    All this is the USSR.
Unemployment, paid education and medicine, crises, in fact, cities from the homeless ... etc. - all this is capitalism, and in particular the United States.

Debatable ... you triggering out Wrong .. little to fast on the trigger - digger. We all aware of the dystopian nightmare .. and USSR one form .. but that was the Past .. in another land .. the good citizens of North America - safe from that hell.

Times have changed .. and "today" we have a dystopian nightmare right here at our door .. not from without .. some external threat .. but from within.. .. pushing us towards this vunderland dystopia...

Difference being that in the USSR . everyone was aware at some point they were in a totalitarian propaganda state. Not every form of distopia will look the same.. in this one ..at this point in time ... the raging masses don't know .. and so are being led along like fat cows .. milked along the way ..

100 % free educatiuion means 100 % free brainwashing with no independant thought allowed. It also means education in what ever field the state demands of you rather thasn what you choose.

Free housing means a soulless and barebones room which you will never be able to move up from.

    Everyone gets paid vacation.

Medicine meant drunk doctors and vials full of tap water from factories supposedly manufacturing anti biotics.

The USSR had no unemployment because the entire state was a slave state as all marxist/communist sociieties are. In addition they simplty slaughtered the unemployed

You are full of **** and out of touch. The USSR was only marginally better than North Korea. Those are historci facts.

"today" we have a dystopian nightmare right here at our door .

sure we have problems here in the United States but I certainly wouldn't call them a "dystopian nightmare".

    1) don't think you know what dystopian is --- in context
    2) your value of "extreme"/exaggeration is way different than mine .. "Dragging children over barbed wire fence in front of parents" no big deal in your books .. so your concept of exaggeration has no relation to what I would call such.

Ahahaha... You are faced with the reality of "cine" life in the West, where your whole life has already been repeatedly mortgaged and re-mortgaged, and therefore, not to me, but to yourself, you are trying to prove that you did not make a mistake by leaving the USSR.
But keep in mind that it will only get worse for you in the future. The recession in the US and the EU is already a fait accompli. Depression will soon come with all the consequences - unemployment, debt burden, impoverishment, moral depression .... and so on. All this is waiting for you. And more and more often you will begin to understand your mistake. Of course, at first you will convince yourself that you are right and look for all the negative articles about Russia, to amuse your ego. You will criticize all the successes of Russia, you will tell yourself that all the successes are not true, and in those successes that cannot be disputed, you will invent negative consequences .... in general, you understand. However, you already do .

You have already begun to look for justification for your actions.
The USSR was the most effective state until recently. From a poor feudal state (Tsarist Russia) with an illiterate population, the USSR became the most literate country in the world. President Kennedy acknowledged this when he declared, "We lost the space race at the school desk ." The USSR for a microscopic historical period became the second economy in the world and controlled half of the world.
No one in the world in history has had such economic growth - up to 36%. (Japan maximum - 15.3%, China maximum -14.7%)
In a few years, a country with 90% of the illiterate population has become 100% literate.
One example. In 1945, the most terrible war in the history of mankind ended, in the USSR 27 million of the most able-bodied part of the population died in the war, the economy was destroyed ..... and 16 years later, the first time in the history of mankind, Russian cosmonaut Gagarin flew into space.
And by the way, the USSR was the first of the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition to abolish the card system.
So, your attempts to denigrate the USSR speak very well about your condition.

The USSR was never an effective state.

It was a failure from day one.

I have no actions to justify.

True, the USSR was the state which forced its citizens to build military power the most effective way.
The standard of living of its citizens was much lower than the standard of living of the Western countries, there was no freedom of expression, shortage of food and basic items, tremendous waste of resources and poising of environment, but its military was first class.

    Here some examples:

    https://www.marineinsight.com/envir...-why-one-of-the-biggest-inland-seas-dried-up/

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor

But we all agree – it was a small price to pay for Ruscist Wunderwaffe which beats Ukrainians Nazi men, Ukrainians Nazi women, Ukrainians Nazi children and Ukrainians Nazi infants already 11 months!

And by the way, the USSR was the first country to sign coalition to with Hitler to invade and to divide Poland:

A silly, false, and irrelevant assumption on your part. the fact that the action happened 30 years ago does not lessen your guilt I'm afraid young Dayton.

Same as it ever was mate .. Your support for death squad dictators .. tacit approval of mass atrocity, terrorism, rape of US nuns, genocide ..

Did you forget ? I suppose some kind of learned forgetfullness would help ease the pain of such a conscience ?!

Did you learn Chess notation yet ?
