    Well here's a shocker.

    Trump is suing someone.

Apparently he found lawyers who don't mind being disbarred or sanctions, in yet another of his silly, feelings hurt lawsuits.

    https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/3836526-trump-sues-journalist-bob-woodward/

Former President Trump is suing journalist Bob Woodward over interview recordings that Trump alleges he didn’t agree could be included in an audiobook.

Trump concedes that he consented to Woodward recording their conversations for the purpose of a book, and gave 19 interviews to the veteran journalist in 2019 and 2020, which Woodward included in his 2020 book “Rage.”

But the former president is arguing the agreement doesn’t cover the inclusion of those audio files in “The Trump Tapes,” an audiobook collection of the recordings published by Simon & Schuster Inc. last year.

The lawsuit, filed in the Pensacola division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, names Simon & Schuster Inc. and its parent company Paramount Global as defendants along with Woodward. It seeks more than $49 million in damages.

“This case centers on Mr. Woodward’s systematic usurpation, manipulation, and exploitation of audio of President Trump gathered in connection with a series of interviews conducted by Mr. Woodward,” Trump’s team argues in the filing.

Who is right and who is wrong?
Trump alleges he didn’t agree to releasing the audio files. Seems simple enough to me to prove Trump wrong, if Woodward would produce the agreement where Trump agreed.

And here's what allegedly Trump didn't agree to:
In a lawsuit filed Monday against Woodward, Simon & Schuster Inc., and the publisher’s parent company Paramount Global, Trump claimed that although he had given Woodward consent to record their conversations “for the sole purpose of a book,” that didn’t extend to packaging those recordings as an audiobook.

Unless I am missing something here, Trump does seem to be splitting straws. I find little difference between giving permission for a book and giving permission for an audio book. They're both books.

When was the last time Trump was right?
He consented to the recording, that is all that matters.
    He does not have to.

That orange dude is going to go to his grave with like 100 lawsuits pending, none of which he will win.

Was language from a written contract in the complaint?

Good point, they don’t even claim he’s using it without permission, indicting he has permission

Quote the statute violated. We all know this suit is another one of Trump's dumb-as-**** garbage suits.

Recordings can be manipulated. That might be his concern with an audio. With written books it's easier to claim he never said what he is reported as saying.

Let's wait until we read Woodward's side of the story, before we double down with the usual Orange Man Bad hysterics.

What do I know? I am not an attorney, but you raise a good point. I haven't read the actual complaint yet.

Trump's team must have cause for Woodward's manipulation. Think of all the cherrypicked tidbits he could sell while editing out the original context for those tidbits.

From your link I also read this . . .
That's the problem with audio. It's easily edited and the spoken word is more believable than the written word. So if Woodward did indeed edit the tape to misrepresent what Trump said I can see where he might have a case. Unless Woodward has it in writing giving him permission to publish audio I don't see how Woodward can win.

Hmm. Look how Woodward packaged the sale of his audio books. The Trump Tapes- 20 Trump interviews show why he is a danger - Washington Post

Manipulation of said tapes could very well sell HUGE amounts of audio books. No?

The odd thing about this whole matter is why Trump ever agreed to give an interview with Woodward. He would have been better off just writing his own book. Obviously Trump has issues picking the wrong people to trust.

Totally. I mean, why wouldn't Trump expect one of the journalists who ended the Nixon presidency, with whom he sat for 19 interviews, would quote him?
