A heck of a lot of footage comes from the j6ers themselves, and with that they incriminated themselves. The entire idea that all the footage of the Capitol must be released, comes from the idea any kind of footage of a peaceful protest will nullify the violent footage. But that's not how it works. Say you release the footage of your entire life being a nice person, except the part where you killed a person. When the government shows the part where you killed a person, it will be so that no amount of other peaceful footage will get you of from a murder conviction. And that's a no brainer. And I would be against the idea that the government releases all CCTV footage for instance It would show where the politicians fled to. And that's top secret for the sake that they can do that again when right wingers go for a 2nd coup attempt.
When you give all the footage to a known lying "entertainer" (Fox's term), that entertainer is going to entertain his audience, give them what they want to see. Tell them it was just a bunch of tourists out to see the capital building. His getting the footage and its use were irresponsible. Now multiply that by everyone getting all the footage and all the partisan spins taken further dividing the country. The government must lead. The public was given evidence of a violent assault on Congress. There is no need for the public to see all the evidence, but there is a need for the courts to see all the evidence.
Did you have this opinion when the January 6 Committee selectively edited and released their own biased narrative of the events? Once one side does it the other side needs the ability to respond. The best course of action is to release the footage. This is especially true since it seems the government has been withholding video from people they are prosecuting. There needs to be accountability.
We already know where they fled to. Democrats already leaked this "top secret" information in an attempt to push the insurrection story. Republicans are looking to see if there is another alternative now in the event they need to leave the Capitol again.
That should be done by the courts, not in the court of public opinion. Is there footage showing they did not storm the capitol and forcefully break in?
~ January 6th is another exaggerated fiasco used for political purposes. It all could have easily been prevented if those responsible for Capitol security did their job — as they have many time in the past. This was allowed to happen — as evidence will show. https://unitedpolicefund.org/acting-capitol-police-chief-admits-they-knew-violence-was-coming/
The irony is the January 6 Committee hired professional movie producers who work in the entertainment industry to selectively release clips to push their bias. And, now they're upset when the other side releases video that shows their opposition lied.
Nope, I was directly commenting on your post. I sorry it was beyond your understanding. Again, was there footage showing they did not forcefully enter the capital building resisting police commands and violence against the police?
There was some of that but the footage they didn't show was the Shaaman being escorted alone through the Capitol halls by Capitol Police. Others let in and escorted as on tour. Those that entered forcefully were encouraged by undercover agents not prosecuted. There was both apparently, escorted entry and forced entry. Funny thing, it seemed to all be designed and coordinated.
I am fine with all footage that is not a security risk, being released. But I don't think you have thought this through. There are 41,000 hours of it. Only a small portion of that is going to be posted, on You Tube. So to see most of that footage, you are still going to have to contact the government, to have it sent to you. There will be a charge for the materials, just like they charge you copying costs, for any FOIA requests. So, you plan on paying for tens of thousands of hours of video? If we are being real, do you expect anyone to believe that you would even watch tens of thousands of hours of it, if somehow they could post it all on some website, that wasn't continually crashing, or slow as hell, because of all those trying to use it? So that kind of puts a hole, in your whole theory, that we shouldn't trust anyone but ourselves, about what is on the tapes. Even if it is all released, you will be reliant, practically speaking, on whatever clips, others decide to show, after having sifted through them-- and you will never see most of the footage. The good news, is if you ever come to your senses, you'll realize that you don't need to see all the tape, in fact that just from the tapes that have been released, one can get a reasonably good basis, for judging the entire event. If you are honest with yourself, you will have to admit that most of the judgements you make in your life, are not as thoroughly researched, as would be your appraisal of January 6th, if you put off coming to any conclusions, until after watching all the footage.
Aside from the fact that your post contains an improperly placed comma it's a good point made. I imagine any media will have a full staff combing through the 41,000 hours of video with each assigned a section of them. Obviously, there will be an agenda embedded in the highlighted clips shown, but if you dismiss one source as being biased then you'll have to accept the fact that the Committee showing clips at its hearings are biased as well (especially since they hired a professional producer for the clown show). The question is, why would you believe the 1/6 Committee is being honest in the way they show video clips? It's not as if we don't know that our government hasn't deceived us in the past. The deception over Vietnam still rings in my mind. How many Americans died as a result of that deception? Or a better question is, did those working in the government care bout how many died? https://consortiumnews.com/2014/08/05/how-lbj-was-deceived-on-gulf-of-tonkin/
Vietnam? That is one Colossus of a Straw Man. This all occurred closer to home, and was televised, while in progress. There is no reason to doubt, from the preponderance of evidence we have seen, that this was no peaceful protest, and no amount of additional footage is it reasonable to believe, could so turn the plainly visible reality of what went on, on its head, as you seem to suggest.
What are you expecting to see? If there is evidence of a crime then the rest is irrelevant. No one gets to see ALL the footage around a crime scene eg bank robbery - do you think that lawyers would get every CCTV angle of the robbers or the vaults or anything not relevant to the case
What a convenient excuse if you had something you did not want people to see. So what you're essentially asking us to do is trust the government.... I believe at one point the American Indians were asked to do the same. It worked out great for them, didn't it?
Unless all of the footage is released there is no way for the people who are not allowed to see it to know what is relevant. Elected Democrats have proven themselves habitual and pathological liars with an agenda and an ax to grind. There is no way that anyone with any common Sense would trust them to be unbiased about this situation.
