You can start by prosecuting the people who use them in the commission of a crime. The progressives have become very weak on that, especially when "a person of color" is involved.

My second point will not be popular with conservatives. Buying a gun should be like driving a car. You should have training and there should be background checks to see if you have a criminal record or mental issues. That's one of the areas where I disagree with my governor, Ron DeSantis.

 

I agree with your second point, but can you supply something to back up your first statement? I am not really sure what you mean by that exactly. Black people get prosocuted for murder all the time. Just a fast look in our prisons shows that.

But there's no such thing as gun violence but there's violence sometimes it involves firearms as weapons. But yes there is enforcement. The vast majority of crimes involving firearms committed by gangsters. Uniform enforcement does stop this.

Yes, it is. Take the criminals off the street. Just a few years ago that was the strategy and crime across the board was declining. It wasn't until the deincarceration agenda got a foothold that crimes started rising.

If you get your news from places other than The New York Times, MSNBC or CNN, you would know that crime is way up in all of the major cities controlled by Democrats. This includes the big ones like murder, armed robbery, burglary, rape and car jacking. Alvin Bragg, who perhaps one of your heroes, is one of the leaders in the nation who reduces felony arrests to misdemeanors or doesn’t prosecute them at all.

There are so many crime reports, it becomes in one ear and out the other, but I remember one where a DA refused prosecute a person of color who attempted a robbery with a gun. Okay, you won’t prosecute him for the robbery, but how about the gun? Did he have a permit to have it? I doubt it. Since this woke DA is so concerned passing new gun laws, why wouldn’t he charge the guy for breaking one that is on the books? But no.

 

Justice reform: Turn our Justice system into one of rehabilitation instead of just punishment. Do not release people that are still a danger to society. If they are released then they are no longer considered a danger to society, they get all their Rights back and their records sealed from all but the Courts.

Mental Health Reform: Should be obvious but our mental health system sucks. However this is not an easy task by any means.

Education reform: We've known for a long time that the more educated a person is the less likely they are to commit violent crimes. My suggestion, study the top 10 school systems in the world. Take parts from them, adjust them just enough for our culture, and implement them.

Economic reform: Poor people are the ones that commit the most violent crime. We need to reduce the poor population and increase the middle class. For instance: We need to bring back more manufacturing jobs. This can be done multiple ways. Breaking up monopolies would also help as it would break rich peoples strangle holds on the availability of goods.

Doing all of the above would reduce ALL violence. Not just "gun violence" which is a misnomer since guns do not cause violence. People do. And not one thing suggested above is about gun control. Yet it would all be more effective than any gun control method currently being suggested.

ABC reports, "Two people were killed and five were injured in a pair of shootings in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Sunday evening, local police said.

"Police said they were alerted at about 9:25 p.m. local time that two people were injured in a shooting near the intersection of Asher and University avenues."

"Moments later, near Asher Avenue and Adams Street, multiple people were shot resulting in two homicides," officials said.

NBC reports, "A Tennessee Christian school where a mass shooting Monday left six people dead, including three children, serves students ranging from preschool through sixth grade. On a typical day, roughly 209 students attend The Covenant School,

"The suspect in Monday's deadly school shooting was a former student who had maps of The Covenant School, Nashville Police Chief John Drake said.

"Audrey Hale, 28, who police said was a transgender woman, had conducted surveillance and prepared for the attack with detailed maps, officials said. Police said the shooter had a manifesto, the contents of which were not released.

"The shooter, Drake said, was “prepared for a confrontation with law enforcement” and “prepared to do more harm."

"The shooter was armed with two semiautomatic AR-15-style rifles as well as a handgun. At least two of the three guns had been lawfully purchased, Drake said.

"The shooter was killed by responding police officers."

Mass murder has become an American pastime, and the NRA-sponsored Republican Party doesn't give a damn.

The AR-15 is a semiautomatic weapon which no self respecting military would select as its weapon.

The M-16 is a select fire. Meaning there is a selector switch can result in it firing as a semiautomatic, fire in three round bursts or fully automatic so that it will continue firing as long as the trigger is held down.

There are numerous very ordinary looking guns which have the same capability as the AR-15, but they do not look like military weapons. The term "assault weapon" has been applied by the military, but not weapons like the AR-15. Assault weapon as used today is a made up term to describe a gun which looks like a military weapon.

 

the solutions are neither political (the right is insane on this issue) nor legal (as our current courts seem to interpret the constitution as a suicide pact.

i think the solution is economic, as the economy declines and our red states' wages begin to level with indonesia and haiti, no one will be able to afford bullets.

 

They pretend that they literally cannot understand that an AR-15 is simply a magazine fed rifle much like many other hunting rifles except that it has all of the black scary features that they don't understand.

Yes .. reverse the Democrats social policies of the last 60 years. Put men back with their families and God back in schools.

A very low or no minimum wage for small businesses and generous wage subsidies for their low skill labor would solve many problems.

Constitutional carry is the only rational solution for gun violence.

 

There's no real solution I can see right now because I'm convinced we as Americans are just violent people by nature, it's in our blood.
