    https://www.boston.com/news/politic...rn-rosa-parks-book-bans-florida-pushing-back/

An extremely brief and non controversial book about the life of Rosa Parks is being banned from grammar schools. A congressman read the entire book (2 1/2 minutes,) into the congressional record. He’s looking for the objectionable word, sentence, paragraph, whatever that seems to be the issue.

The only issue I can remotely come up with is that it’s scary to think of a time where separate but equal was sanctioned by the government. But, that’s a good thing to know. The government is scary, since they are no longer afraid of us. We absolutely need to remember that history.

The book is written at a 1st grade level.

I think the real issue is how our history is being used. It's being used to create an us vs them agenda(California recently looked into the reparations, with claims of reparations being 3X the state budget!). But beyond the cost, to me it would destroy the national unity and fabric of the nation. And that very fabric of the nation, is hanging on by a thread.

Follow the links in your reference - Parks book was never explicitly listed as one to be banned.

    History being used?
You seem to be confused about the role of history or what is history.

As per usual, yet another leftist exaggeration for their political agenda.

Duval County shuts down congressman’s false claims that Rosa Parks book ‘banned’
    https://flvoicenews.com/duval-count...ans-false-claims-that-rosa-parks-book-banned/

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FLV) – Duval County Public Schools shut down U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern’s, D-Mass., false claims after he said they banned a book from their school library.

McGovern claimed Duval County Schools banned “The Life of Rosa Parks” from their school library, when in reality the district said the book was never purchased in the first place.

McGovern said on Twitter that U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, is “lying” after he said books were not banned in Duval County, such as “the book in question about Rosa Parks.”

The school district replied to the Tweet and said the book was “never purchased by the district.”

Duval county schools said there are “dozens of books about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and other icons of the Civil Rights movement.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis commented on McGovern’s claims about the school district banning the Rosa Parks book during a press conference Monday. DeSantis said if there was something “really problematic,” critics would “point to that legislation,” but “they don’t do that.”

“You know, you’re on the right track when they can’t argue against you on the substance [….] They don’t do what actually is being done, they try to concoct phony narratives,”

“The school system actually responded on social media and said, well, we have 14 other books about Rosa Parks, we just didn’t have that one, because you have to make choices about what you do,”.

“They were trying to do a narrative that somehow that would not be appropriate in Florida schools, which is absurd.”

And another fake leftist claim bites the dust.
    End of thread

Why do you erase 90% of the man's post and act like the rest of it doesn't matter?

That's a pretty low tactic to sit there and try to take someone's post out of context.

Because the rest of the post was misrepresentation crap and irrelevant. History is not used but learned and studied.

    *ahem*

Despite never ordering the book, review records, first reported by Jacksonville Today, show that the county did review “The Life of Rosa Parks” — for four minutes — and rated it highly against the county’s criteria, before sending it back. And the person overseeing the review process, Michelle DiBias, Duval’s supervisor of instructional materials and media services, resigned March 8 for calling gay characters in a removed book “contrary to the design of humanity.”

So, again, how is Rosa Parks’ American journey highly inappropriate?

You win the internet for today!

In my opinion, and my opinion only, the body overseeing this Nazi-esque book banning crap is simply a faction of the DeSantis populist movement, and hence racist.

This is your contention? I do agree with @FatBack that it would've been nice if you quoted the whole thing and gave your 'reasoning', such as it is but it's terribly misguided. Yes, history is used, as is all other aspects of narrative telling. Propaganda is nothing more than taking bits and pieces of the truth and spinning it for one's own political agenda.

So to keep it modern, the 1619 claims that America was started there. Factually inaccurate. Yes, we were an English Colony. No, we were not yet an independent nation capable of legislating and governing(by god, what do you think taxation without representation is?). And yet, they had to pick 1619 as a narrative, because if you picked 1776(never mind mentioning the slave trade from Africa, inherited from the British) that gives WAY too much nuance to the Framers, who understood the morality of the Slavery question and in reality, were chipping away at it piece by piece.

1619 is used to promote the us vs them agenda. The reason for the outlash, is that never before has the US home nation had such internal anti-American propaganda, and to this day we don't know who the players truly were behind the propaganda. I believe the author to be one of Stalin's famous 'dupes' as they were called at the time, and that the release of the 1619 anti-US propaganda has foreign players behind the curtains.

    Yes, it is.
    Why?
By those who do not know what it is.
    And that is not history.
Care to try that in coherent English?

Tell it to the people who banned Huck Finn and To Kill A Mockingbird. Liberals ban everything in sight and even things we can’t see. Libs also shout down people who want to speak, disinvite them from speaking or threatening them into cancelling what they want to speak about.

If you look at what the Nazis did and compare it to what democrats are doing now, you’d notice the only difference is democrats don’t have funny mustaches…well, the women might.

History is being used. It’s being used to perpetuate victimhood in order to keep people on the plantation.

I’m against all bans except when not age appropriate. I enjoyed reading Twain and Lee in school.

we literally saw To Kill a Mockingbird at the theater last night. Some of us don’t need to read the party memo to decide if we approve of something.

And continues to erase key parts of your post to completely change the context. I have decided that people that do that are not worth replying to any longer. It's a rather lazy and dishonest tactic.

So now the story changes. Its not a book they purchased and banned, now it was reviewed and sent back?
It was never even received because they never purchased it as clarified by the school.

McGovern claimed Duval County Schools banned “The Life of Rosa Parks” from their school library, when in reality the district said the book was never purchased in the first place.

How many more fake stories are going to be associated with a single book never purchased.
