Did you bother to read the op, or is this response just to the title? I couldn’t care less about Christie’s chances against Trump in the primary. What I gleefully hope for is that Christie is ready, willing and able to teach Trump a lesson about wrestling a pig by being the pig. Meaning of course that he will revel in getting dirty with Trump and successfully retort all of the sporty 5th grade level of insults that have been so amazingly effective for Donald. Tactics that obviously work against so many R tough guys like Cruz and DeSantis.

DeDoRunRon DeSantis's authoritarianism is repugnant to conservatives who prefer small-government politicians who do nor dictate to medicine, education, academia, private enterprise, and the average citizen with a womb.

His ¡No más! ¡No más! refusal to engage whenever Tantrum Boy wee wee's on him isn't going to win him the nomination.

The real threat to the Loser becoming a recidivist is Christie. He's a brawler.

If he makes it onto a stage in a debate among aspirants to the GOP presidential nomination, he'll be the only one capable of dirty-fighting as savagely as Trump.

It would be quite a show.

Don't be too sure. There are those in the GOP's leadership that realize nominating Loser Trump would be suicidal, and would rally around any conservative who would be willing to get down and dirty with him.

Neither Ron DeSantis, nor Mike Pence, nor Tim Scott can compete with Trump in mud wrestling.

The difference between Current GOP and “Woke Moron” you talking about, the “ Woke Moron” are not the party leader, and ‘Woke Moron” will not get democrat Nomination.

There were always radical side on both party but they didn’t control the agenda of the party or in leadership position. Today without the crazy you can’t be GOP leader.

Given the GOP seeming to double down on the war on trans people, I think Christie is the only one I can vote for in the primaries. He has a mixed history, but he's been pretty sane about it since 2017 so far as I can tell. But if the GOP is going to be staunchly anti-trans, I'll be voting straight ticket dem for the first time in my life.

And yet the GOP can invite two foreign dictators as headline speakers for CPAC and Trump can brag about getting along better with dictators than he does with Dems and our allies. It's so ****ing sad.

I am liberal Democrats so I don’t agree with conservatives, but I yearn for the day when GOP politicians like Scott Walker, Tim Pawlenty has some chance to win GOP nomination. Unfortunately in today’s MAGA world even Scott Walker is RINO/Uniparty/Globalist who dine with Hilary and drink human blood.

And here he comes.... by popular (??) request.

    https://nypost.com/2023/05/18/chris...4-presidential-run-in-the-coming-days-report/

I'm now giving the MAGA/GOP joint primary a 4.85 popcorns (out of 4)

Honestly, as I've said for years, Chris Christie is the ONLY Republican speaker who doesn't leave a barf taste in my mouth for hours afterwards....

    Not counting guys like Kasich?

Christie I think is a pos as well. Between Beachgate and Bridgegate alone, he’s yet another US dictator wannabe. But I ‘d like to see the fireworks between these two *******s.

However, it seems to me that CC lacks the ability to fire off on Djt’s weaknesses in a proper streetwise manner that can connect the dots for folks whose faculties regarding political choices are based on their ability to buy a Kel-Tek and have a house with a hot tub. Or whether or not they can afford a prime tenderloin at Costco because of any policy shortcomings by the “Libs” giving a cut of their hard-earned bucks to the darkies.

Well, Kasich doesn't leave me queasy... I'll leave it at that... never really followed him all that much, TBH...

Of course CC is a pos... he wouldn't be in the Republican party otherwise. But he IS interesting and entertaining, 2 qualities almost completely absent in that group.

What does Christie think has changed for him since his last run?
I don't even see him as VP material.
As said about Christie entering 2024, it will be fun, that is if he's "no holds barred".

'Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to announce his 2024 presidential campaign Tuesday'

    Source: NBC News

    May 31, 2023, 8:50 AM EDT / Updated May 31, 2023, 9:11 AM EDT

'Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is set to announce his 2024 presidential campaign Tuesday at a town hall in Manchester, New Hampshire, a source confirmed to NBC News.

This marks the second presidential campaign for Christie, who stumbled to a sixth-place finish in the 2016 New Hampshire primary.

Axios was the first to report the timing of Christie's 2024 campaign announcement.

After dropping out of the race eight years ago, Christie, in a then-stunning move, endorsed Donald Trump just days before Super Tuesday, lending a credible name to Trump’s momentum at the time.'

What's the method to Christie's madness?

'The Memo: How Chris Christie could be a wildcard in 2024 GOP race'

BY NIALL STANAGE - 06/01/23 6:00 AM ET

    snip:

'That’s true of DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Vice President Pence — who is also expected to enter the race next week — and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.). None has taken on Trump so frontally as Christie seems likely to do.

Christie does have talents, however. No Republican gets elected twice as governor of a blue state like New Jersey without political skills. And the former governor can be a formidable debater. In 2016, he famously embarrassed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) so badly in one clash that it was perceived to have ruined Rubio’s chances in the race.

Still, Christie was not the beneficiary himself in 2016 — and some wonder whether that pattern could repeat itself in 2024, with attacks by Christie on Trump perhaps helping DeSantis.'

Somewhat interesting OP and we've got months of hearing Christie call out Trump (and Pence) before any debates.
Not that Trump will be doing debates. lol

    Opinion

'Chris Christie is not in it to win it. His task is more important.'

'As an infamous bully credited with ruining Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) presidential chances in 2016, Christie has the verbal skills and chutzpah that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lacks to attack Trump in ways that could do real damage.

For starters, Christie can help create a rationale (what psychologists call a “permission structure”) that allows Republicans who voted for Trump to move on. After all, once he dropped out in 2016, Christie supported Trump. During Trump’s presidency, Christie periodically defended him, but after Jan. 6, 2021, he sharply rebuked Trump and since has warned that the charges against Trump are serious.

In other words, he can say, “Like you, I voted for Trump in 2016 — but we cannot nominate him again.” He can tout Trump’s value in defeating GOP boogeywoman Hillary Clinton in 2016, while making clear Trump is now a hindrance to the MAGA agenda.'

Chris Cristy has no chance whatsoever. He couldn't get elected to state-wide office in New Jersey again, let alone the whole the country. He left the governorship there under unpopular circumstances. When the Coved lockdown was on, he was sitting on the beach. It made for bad optics.

No, that was in 2017 and actually worse.

Christie ordered a government shutdown that closed all state parks and beaches on the eve of the 4 July holiday weekend and he got caught sunning by an overhead plane or heli (????)

Thank you for the correction. When you get old, years run into each other. :oldman: I only remember seeing a helicopter view of his large bod sitting on the beach.

Christie is like Jabba the Hutt. Almost as obese, and in 16 Trump was his kind of scum.

I would like to see Christie and Trump destroy each other in the debates. Then we might have a chance at electing a decent president.
