I think most people realize you can't prevent them all, so a more realistic goal would be to reduce them.

If you say so. I am not horribly interested in your resentment issues against 'liberals' or anyone who doesn't agree with you. I didn't say anything about what liberals want, and I don't even agree with them, but you have to insert your standard talking point to every post you make. Its tiresome.

If reduction is the goal, them that will take more policing, more prosecutions of violent offenders and more enforcement of the laws already on the books.

Probably the most effective with immediate results would be to cut down on media promotion of shooting folks as a remedy for righting perceived wrongs and getting even with society.

The US news media is actively and knowingly using generalized imitation and social contagion to precipitate continuous violence.

 

As I've noted on other threads, the cause of death by gunshot, determined by professional coroners, is with but rare exceptions listed as tissue damage from a bullet, slug or shot.

There are three necessary components to all but a very few deaths by gunshot. These are a shooter, a gun/firearm and the projectile(s). If we remove any single component of the three from the sequence, the death does not occur. The same is true for wounding by gunshot.

Meanwhile, based upon data from the year 2021, a death by gunshot occurs in the United States of America every 12 minutes, as a rough average, throughout each day.

I don't agree with bans, or registration schemes. I have told you a hundred times. Am I not saying it right? Should I use different words? Or should I lie about other peoples views like you do? Yes, I support gun rights, but I don't support criminals and mentally insane having guns, and for that you call me all kinds of names and misrepresent my views. Its a nasty habit.

How are you under attack anyway? Why play the victim?

Liberals make no bones about it. - they want bans and other restrictions. Its in their campaign platform. I don't agree with it, but at least they don't misrepresent my views.

Maybe. But I doubt it, given that we get those same movies and videogames across the other western countries with far far less gun crime.

Probably a low percentage, but a much higher percentage than in most other western nations. And a high enough number to give you a serious problem.

Add in proper safe storage and gun owner insurance for if their gun is stolen and used to harm somebody, and may agree, and likely would in pretty much any other western culture. But in that one? Maybe still no.

Guns are not safe. They are designed to be the very opposite of safe. You have to take many precautions to maintain safety around them or with them.

To be fair...these same violent movies and games are being seen by young impressionable minds in many other countries all over the world.

 

Note, I didn't say 'just' gun crime. I reference violence in general.

Is it a problem - yes, it is. But addressing the tool of the problem, does not address the cause of the problem.

Exactly what benefit is there of 'gun owner insurance'? Will the insurance replace the gun if it's stolen? If someone else uses it to harm someone, how is that different if someone steals the kitchen knife and uses it to stab someone to death? There is no payout benefit for such an insurance.

Guns are as safe as say, a table saw. It may have the potential to harm, but education and familiarity with tools make virtually all tools 'safe'.

 

They likely are. Perhaps they are influencing those 'other' impressionable minds in other ways.

I have a few other opinions why they have more of an impact here then other places, but that would take another thread.
