Less will work right now. Do you intend to stop driving? The other methos will take a bit of time, years or decades.

Not sure what hurricanes centuries ago has to do with any of this..

Not if by "credible scientists" you mean the likes of Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson and Steve Banon.

How to deal with China is a topic for another thread. This one is about oil.

I would think that someone who claims to have such a scientific mind like yours would realize that takes more than a general prediction to mean anything. For example, has anyone done a study on the fires themselves who determine what caused them and what they are more extreme now? Just saying Climate Change does not explain anything. For example, climate change could result in fewer fires in specific regions.

Weather change happens in cycles. It has nothing to do with oil.

    Your claim is fake news.

    My claims reflect Earth's record.
    1. Earth has been in Warm Earth conditions for 85% of its existence
    2. We are currently in an interglacial within an ice age
    3. Interglacials last about ~15,000 years and are followed by glacial advances that last about ~100,000 years
    4. This interglacial has lasted ~11,500 years and it's warmest period was ~7,500 years ago.
    5. This interglacial will not end in 'runaway heat', it won't even end in Warm Earth conditions, it will end in another glacial advance.
    These 5 points are irrefutable.

That is exactly right. It takes not only thousands of predictions but also over a hundred years of research. Nothing less will do. That's why I sent you the link.

The computer you are using is made from oil. The car you drive is made from oil. Your phone is made from oil. The lights in your home and air conditioning is made available because of insulators made from oil. Even the queer LGTBQ+ flag is made from oil. Damn near everything has a component made from a product of oil.

If you would like to ride a horse, use candle light and grow your own food, be my guest, but your hypocrisy needs to go somewhere else.

The link says nothing about the fires themselves. How they started? Why did they burn longer and over a larger area?

We can't help that. We CAN help not making potential enemies richer by putting oil in our tanks.

I don't know when you guys on the right will ever learn that binary thinking can NEVER win any debate.

How is the obvious point so lost on you? We don't make THEM rich if we use our OWN oil.

Keep reading! As I said, there are over 100 years of research and a couple of million predictions.

You have a long night ahead of you, young man. There will be a quiz tomorrow.

I have "at times" great concern for some of our contributors here on PF.. At times it seems more like a ChatGpt then an actual cognitive human on the other end of posts  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

WE won't. The countries we sell our oil to now WILL. If we don't sell oil to them because we are consuming it locally, where do you think they'll get it from? And, on top of that, we won't have... whatever influence we have now on setting the international price of oil.

"Common sense" and "logic"... not your forte.... But this is the mental framework of those who don't understand that we are just PART of the world. Not the whole world.

I you are going to claim these specific fires are a result of climate change, then there has to be a study of these specific fires. That is the scientific method.

The propagandists want you to believe as the OP does :) Fortunately the entire scenario is out there for those with a larger thirst for ALL THINGS INVOLVED!!

    Just for starters ;)

That sounds earily similar to the CIAs excuse for taking over illegal drug smuggling from cartels... 'someones gonna control (and profit from) it, might as well be us!' That sort of moral ambiguity never ends well. Thats what turns the good guys into the bad guys.

VERY similar. Because just like drugs can kill you, so can oil. Except oil can kill people who don't use it. We must come to a point when they are both illegal. Easier to do with oil. Even though we can't make drug users illegal, we CAN, at some point in the future, make selling vehicles that use oil illegal.

    No binary thinking, please...

The point is...assuming you can know something so incredibly complex approaches zero [rapidly]. I get it that the entire enterprise has been politicized beyond belief but you might be old enough to remember when the new ice age was coming [soon], as well. The bottom-line is that societies should do what makes the most sense [which used to be the purpose of a functional constitutional republic].

Man should stick with issues like recycling and conservation of resources. These are pretty straight forward endeavors.

Nothing you presented has to do with oil. Its simply just you disagreeing with other countries actions.
