Actually, the Mustang GT matches the M3's performance, and the Boss 302 beats it!

We drive the Ultimate Driving Machine. Wonderful cars, but expensive to maintain.

    yeah ... Right.They look tough but aren't.My " Evo " { Mitsubishi }
a 2005 RS model takes it every time.On the back road my " Evo "
will destroy it.I'm talkin 286 stock h.p. in a car just barely
over 3,ooo lbs. with active Yaw differentials on All-Wheel drive.
and a Twin Scroll Turbo. My Car actually looks like an ordinary compact
from behind.Because the RS model doesn't have a big rear spolier.
But those who know can tell from behind by the width of the rear tires
or 235/45-17" that sit squat and almost perfectly the correct distance
apart. The " Evo " is a very balanced car with twice the rigidity as a
normal platform Lancer.it's beefed-up in the undercarriage with stout
    aluminum parts like idler arms.

Since August I'm the lucky owner of an Opel (Vauxhall) Combo fueled by LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas).
You may say this beauty doesn't have any sex-appeal, but not only do I rejoice every time I see my bill at the petrol station but I also love the fact that this car can be magically transformed from a 5 seater into a van. Massive boot! I love it!

    My daily driver...
4" lift kit, brush guard and winch plus
after market exhaust. Engine and transmission all stock. Let's me get to fishing holes that a regular car couldn't traverse.

I drive a Bugatti Veyron Super Sports - but only on my computer screen. The sad fact is - I don't own a car, but my mum's old car has been available for my exclusive use since she bought a new one. It is seven years old, but has only done about 40,000 miles (60,000 km) and is still in like new condition. My mum pays for the road tax and insurance, but I have to pay for the petrol out of my allowance. Here she is - not my favourite colour but ...

    BMW 530i

I don't get to drive it much now, because I am still at school, and it lives up in the mountains at my aunt's place. But I will next year, when I am at uni. It has been the most reliable car my mum has owned, and apart from regular servicing, she has had to replace one stop lamp globe in all the time she ran it.

It's a fine car with great performance right off the lot, I just don't care for the way it looks. I'd much rather buy a used Z and do some modifications.

No question that the 350Z is a looker. And the Evo is kinda plain
jane from the rear. However from the front it's like a Nascar.
But that all is put to rest once inside the car, and it's custom
    race seats bolster you in as the hearty little 4 banger {2.0 litre }
engine purs to life, sounding somewhat like a farm tractor.
The engine, arguably THE most stout and sturdy as ever manufactured
can be Modified out the wazoo. The original engine block being cast iron.
NOT a thing of beauty,as say any German engine. The top end has some
    looks,but doesn't overdo it.The engine serves a need.Not for a showroom.
The car was bred for the Rally circuit and is pure performance.
    There's a nice YouTube of a 350Z behind an Evo at Germany's
    Nurburgring.

Agreed...Although I can take your Mitsubishi Evo any time of the day I think (depending on the model), it will be a lot harder then taking a 350z for me. However, Depending on which Evo you have...if you can be more specific with your model/year, Id get a better visual of its speed.

Oh my lord...the 530i is such a good car. Its got around 220hp with a inline-six. Its got one of BMW's best engines of all time, the M54 I believe it is. Unfortunately...BMW did not do such a good job with its V8 series from its E39's...which is what I have....reliability is much worse.

Not only can You NOT take My EVO any time of the day,but Anytime
    period Pally.Don't forget Evo's are All-Wheel Drive.Not just ALL-Wheel
    but a Renown All-Wheel Rally car.In snow it rules.BBC - Top Gear - did a
show where they wanted to see if a car could circle an ice covered road
leading up to a Mountain top as fast as a professional rock climber could
scale down. They had special tires built with spikes that could withstand
the tire torque. They called upon the most reliable of All-Wheel beasts to
accomplish. The Evo succedded.Watchin that Evo race around undaunted on
a mountain coated with thick ice was neat.
Even if that Car a yourn was an M3 ... good luck.I've already dragged a
n M3 last summer. It was a late model M3 also.He got the jump off the
line but we were almost neck and neck until I hit 3rd and luckily the
turbo boost kicked in just right and I left him in my rearview.
    I've street raced a couple 350Z's and they a cocky bunch.Until they
meet a modest street beast like an Evo.An Evo is a Humbler.
They tend to make Car Macho guys feel lacking. The best run I had
    and I came close to top speed was a Firebird Trans Am { WS-6 Ram Air }
no mistaking because of the elongated ram hood and the WS-6 decal
on the rear fender.I was behind him and he thought he was kool.
He took off and I kept right up with him. There was traffic in the right
lane So I couldn't just blow by him.I Followed on his tail doin around
    120.When the right lane cleared I blew past { final turbo kick-in}
and and waved. He seemed stunned.I probably passed doin 140 or better.
I slowed up because If caught I go to jail.I let him pass a couple minutes
later and he obvioulsy knew the score. Those Trans Am guys are
livin in the past. The WS-6 is probably the Fastest Trans Am also.

A guy in an EVO thought he could show off against my wife this summer. Boy, was he in for a shock...after about 100', she went rocketing past him & kept pulling away. Turbos are nice, but why waste one on half an engine?

Oh well...buddy, do you have 286hp including your turbo...or is it 286hp stock plus a turbo...?...if it gives you an extra 100-200hp boost then nevermind...I thought you had a stock Evo.

If your Evo tops out at 286hp...I don't care what RPM you have it at, I can almost garantee I'll take you on...both in a 0-60mph AND a 1/4 mile.

Moreover...You do not even know what car I have buddy, I have not told anybody yet, so don't jump on conclusions.

    I agree.Turbo's alone mean little.Evo's have a lot more.They are
    almost perfectly balanced.They have State-of-the-Art ALL-wheel
drive with dialed-in Yaw differential, meanig ALL 4 wheels are
working to grip the road and pull or let off.Evo is an ALL weather car.
On a country or back road they are as capable as a Lamborghini,
even more so as - Top Gear - has proved. An Evo is an Insane handler.
    With razor sharp steering.
If you'be never been in an Evo then you haven't experienced the treat.
My very first ride in an Evo had me hooked.I couldn't believe what it could
    do.

Foolardi...answer my question please...I need to know if your turbo gives you a stock 286hp or is stock 286+ another X-amount of hp with the turbo?

My car is stock and the 286 h.p. includes boost. The 2005 RS had
a Car & driver 0-60 of 4.3 sec. They keep advertising the Evo as
    a 5.o sec car.I never launch the car so I can't get near a 4.3
But with modest Mods the car can easily go into the 3. something range.
But Evo's are not long in 1st gear.A good muscle car may take an Evo off the
line but lack the Turbo kick over 100 m.p.h.Like I said,I took an
    M3 in 3rd gear.The Turbo kicked in around 80- 1oo.

That would be Dyno tested in acceleration or short of Redline.
The Turbo kicks in at 4 grand and the Redline is 7,ooo.
The bench H.P. rating is like 220-230 h.p.

I have my work car, which is a beat up 97 Ford Aspire with the monster 1.3 liter engine. My wife drives a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. And in the back is GW. A 76 F250 with one ton springs and a 400 HP 390 4 bbl from a 67 LTD. In the garage is a project vehicle that I call a Mercury Montero. The vehicle that Mercury never built. It is a 68 Ranchero with a Merc Montego nose, interior and badging. It has a 450 HP 302 that looks totally stock.

I'm sorry, but I looked up stats on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions and the only ones getting speeds that you claim were well into the 300 to 400hp range and different models.

Ones that had hp similar to yours like 295 were 0-60times in the mid 5s.

I don't even know what hp you produce at what rpms...so its hard to tell.

However, I'll tell you this though, the cars are so (*)(*)(*)(*) light that it may be pretty close. My car is a 2003 BMW 540i with Dinan modifications (and I'm thinking of getting it supercharged). My 540i outputs (with my modifications), around 350-360hp between 3500-6500rpm give or take. I am sure that with my 6-speed manual, in dry conditions, I can take you on in a 0-60 and a 1/4mile. I'm not really sure on extremely high speeds...but on low speeds and accelerations, I can take your EVO. I've also got modified differentials.

I'm confident that my 4.4L V8 can produce more torque at lower rpm ranges giving me a far greater advantage before your turbo takes time to kick in. Think about it, nobody cares about how fast you get to 150mph...low speed is what actually matters, because its easy to test, and is useful for regular street driving, when you need to make a quick left turn or have good passing power. Since my engine is naturally aspirated, I have zero lag...so you may only be producing 100hp until you get to high rpm's and high speeds depending on how your turbo gates are controlled. Off the line, you're dead...and 0-60mph, I'll take you. I also don't do any illegal street races...I only go on tracks :0)

The Euro Evo Models get almost 100 more h.p.Don't forget Evo was
not allowed into this country until 2003.I know the last few years the
Evo stateside had 0-60 times of 5.0 and 5.1 sec.
The first year the Evo was available here stateside {2003} the Dealers
sold out and before the cars even hit the lot.Kinda like the M3 BMW.
My Dealer was asking and Getting $9,000 Over list for the car.
A $30,ooo car being sold for $39,ooo.I knew why the very first ride
I was allowed.Myself and 2 salesman took a spin on a Demo model.
I had never been in a car that turned-in the way it did.It felt like an
Indy Car must feel. You turn the wheel and the car turns like on a dime
    no matter the radius :

    Awesome :omg:

Well as I said... the evo has some serious balls, but I can take it. It will be a close one at high speeds though.

And as a side note, you don't know what true handling is until you drive a german car. Japanese and American cars have ZERO handling in general compared to german cars like porsche, BMW and audi. Just saying.

I have been in an EVO. It's a cramped, tinny, noisy, uncomfortable penalty box; it rides like an oxcart and has an absolutely breathtaking price. It might be the least-comfortable car I have ever been in.

The newe Mustang matches the vaunted M3 in handling. (It also does so for about twenty grand less!)

I'm a fan of the Chevy 302 c.i.The engine made famous by the original
Z-28.That was an Aluminum Engine however.
    I bought a Z-28 the second year they came back {1976-77 }
It was a lame 350 c.i.The car handled really nice and was really
good in 3rd gear.My Brother bought the same year as I but got a
bonafide lemon. My '77 had the infamous Corvette Positraction which was
supposed to allow the rear wheels to not lock up and compensate
in like Snow.Well the very first year I owned that Z-28 we had a
Blizzard and everyone was snowed in for near a week. That Positraction
    was pure crap.
    I eventually crashed { cracked-up } that Z-28 and flipped it.
All on account that crappy Differential.

That's got to be the Dumbest thing I've heard all week.
Mustangs have NO handling capacity. They are all Off the line
    Torque and that's it.
What Planet are you posting from.I saw an old M3 on YouTube
from like 30 years ago and it really scotted,in a mountain dirt contest.
Mustangs are for Cracker motor heads who haven't a clue to
Handling.Like their Pappy's swore by them. This Father to son handed down
    Idiocy has to stop.
