Aaaanywho, this thread just looks like more class envy to me. MObama is a wealthy woman. She can go on vacation when she (*)(*)(*)(*) well pleases. And as the wife of the democratically elected President of the United States, she is entitled to a security detail.

 

The Obama's pay for their own vacation.

AND the SS protection for the Republican candidates goes on ALL the time, not just on the campaign stops.

But with the worst economic record since the Great Depression of the '30s the question has always been should Michelle go on yet another vacation while the public suffers through her husband's head in ass economic leadership?

These commercials about the Imperial Obamas will write themselves and I can't wait until the real presidential campaign begins. Let people decide for themselves if they want Marie Antoinette Obama back in office sucking off the public teat while they shiver in the cold and dark.

Why not? I don't know if you've seen the news lately, but the economy is on its way up. MObama isn't running the country. She's the presidents wife. I'm not sure what staying in Washington would accomplish.

The expense to the government to protect her and cater to her every want is considerable and 6 to 7 vacations a year would be excessive even for most queens.

As far as I can tell no one is under the impression Michelle Obama runs the country. What would staying in Washington for awhile accomplish? It would send a message that I'm not going to rub your noses in the dirt by living it up while all you peasants suffer.

This story isn't very newsworthy. Rich people go on vacations, big deal... and all politicians claim to be the champions of the poor.

Do you have any idea how much it cost the taxpayers to take Bush to Crawford on AF1 plus another plane with his motorcade on it plus transporting his staff (personal chef) and SS agents to Crawford just for a weekend? What the taxpayers paid to secure his ranch and construct a building to install communication systems, warning systems, bunkers, housing for the SS, housing for administration officials that either had to go with him or fly back and forth from Crawford to DC cost more than any vacations the Obamas have taken or will take while they're in office.

Bush DID prefer the ranch to the WH - IMPO he was uncomfortable in the WH because he knew he shouldn't be there.

 

I get it. While America lingers through the toughest times since the 1930's and people are genuinely suffering you don't think it matters what the First Family does. I'll bet you had a different view when Bush was in office.
