Why is it that we, Americans, are allowed to build nuclear weapons, but Iran is not allowed? Is our future intervention because of the Israeli lobby? I thought our Imperial days were over. Guess not.
It isn't a case of allowing the US. It is the case of the US allowing. Once you understand that, you have the history of the USA from independence to now in a nutshell.
America doesn't want them to have nuclear weapons and we have the power to enforce that upon them. That is the most basic answer.

Yeah I am. The US is the ONLY country ever to have dropped atomic bombs on human beings. The US is the only country to have carpet bombed human beings on a regular basis for 5 decades. I agree.. perhaps the US is the one that needs to be stopped from possessing weapons of mass destruction. No middle east country ever bombs anyone.
Are you serious??? Wow the list is pretty long. The US bombing of south east asia during the vietnam war was truly horrific and on a massive scale. It was indiscriminate and killed millions. It was one of the worst crimes in human history... certainly rivaling the holocaust. Estimates range from 500 000 at the very lowest estimate to well over 2 million civilians massacred by B52 carpet bombing of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Literally vaporising thousands of people. Cambodia alone.. a country of just 15 million people claim that between 600,000 and 800, 000 people were killed by US bombing. The first gulf war .. when the US tricked Saddam into invading Kuwait..and then absolutely massacred 10,000s of retreating poor conscript and defenceless Iraqi soldiers. Serbia was carpet bombed because the former US ally Milosevic decided to deny a US pipeline through Kosovo. I believe the pretext at the time for the massive carpet bombing of Serbian civilians was.. Serbs were killing Albanians in Kosovo (total lie of course). 10 000 civilians massacred.. no Serb troops killed. Typical bomb and hide US tactic. Afghanistan .. again not quite as evil as the previous examples above. Only 5000 - 10 000 civilians killed this time by cluster bombs Operation Shock and Awe (how sick was that to describe another cowardly bomb and hide mission?). The true figures will never be known and certainly never revealed to the US public. However this was a truly horrific bombing campaign.. indiscriminately killing 10,000s of civilians. There are other examples. Can you name ONE middle eastern country or indeed ANY country that has bombed others in such a way in the past 50 years? The US is a dictatorship that is run by the military industrial complex and therefore requires WAR at all times to feed the profits and control of the people.
Laos, 25% to 30% of a populaton of about 4.5 million were casualties of US military bombing. 2.5 million tons of bombs over a nine year period. Over 550,000 individual bombing sorties.
You don't even know what carpet bombing is. We haven't carpet bombed anything since we leveled the Ho Chi Min trail in Vietnam. I would suggest doing some research before you make posts.
Is that right? So you would have happily sat in Belgrade or Baghdad when US cowards dropped bombs on these civilians? Do not tell me that you fall for all that smart bomb and targeting propaganda? US bombs still massacre 10,000s of civilians. I believe that your dictators call them collateral damage these days?
If we had carpet bombed Bagdad there would not be a building left standing. Quit posting about complicated military stuff you don't understand.
"In Vietnam was a reference to the war, not a geographical location." Same as saying, "We drafted men in Vietnam." This doesn't mean we drafted them from the country but rather for the war. English classes are available for low cost at your local community college.
The families of 100,000 civilians massacred by Operation bomb and hide would like to talk to you about that complicated military stuff. I agree it is much harder to get away with genocide today.. .and so the numbers are much less than before. Still .. I guarantee you would have been toileting yourself had you been in baghdad at the time.
I could be wrong, but what you are referring to is Operation Rolling Thunder. I've been trying to remind Americans repeatedly what their gov't has done in their name. "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" my a$$. Containing Communism was all Bullsh!t. Vietnam WAr, Korean WAr, were all proxy wars trying to contain the influence of the former Soviet Union. Those who were stuck between the 2 Superpowers of the Cold War had to choose between the Lesser of Two Evils.
The US genocide of South East Asians or the German genocide of Jews. Which do you consider to have been the greater evil? Also can you name ONE other country that has bombed others in the past 50 years to even 1% of the level that the US has? Any reason why the US keeps bombing nations?
I agree that the fighting communism was complete BS. I differ somewhat however.. I do not really think it was about containing the USSR. I believe it was just like today... an imaginary enemy sown into the minds of Americans ... a non existent threat that would enable control of the US people and massive military expansion and overseas wars and occupations. The imaginary enemy of today is clearly radical islam. About as much threat to Americans as burnt toast.
