thats why I said canada and mexico....not europe as you can drive there.....a car is made of metal so a metal detector wont be able to detect any gold hidden in the spare tire or some other novel place in the car.
My brother found out the hard way that if the border guards want to search every single part of your car...they will!!!
Here is a conspiracy for you. A Gold Eagle has 91.67% Gold 3% Silver and the rest a special allow. I had a client tell this to me that the 3% silver was added not to make gold more shiny but it was a high tech RFID device. Silver is used in Rf devices. I had never thought of that. I don't believe it but hey sometimes you just don't know.
the gold maple leaf is .999 pure gold......no silver......then consider that coin....or even gold 1 ounce wafers !
well I am going to assume they were using sniffing dogs....and yes dogs can smell alot of stuff but to my knowledge they cant smell gold as its oudorless!
No, they just didn't like the look of him and tore his car apart...door panels, everything. And my brother had zero contraband.
well thats odd.....as I think the US government is overly paranoid.....on the Niagara Falls border it is common for them to check in the car glove box and perhaps even in the trunk but thats as far as it goes!
well yeah if they have probable cause.....but I doubt they would check everybody...but then again in a crisis situation the government might get desperate enough so who knows!
not sure which coins those are....here in canada the mint produces a 100 dollar gold piece its 22 karat and has a quarter ounce of gold usually not much above spot price if you go to the correct coin dealers and look nice too!
Back when I said gold should go to 1400 based solely on the money supply people laughed at me. It should be higher now but I have not figured out how high. It is probably about where it should be right now.
are you in the US? As I am not familiar with those coins. Well I think the key is to buy as close to spot price as possible!
I was getting the commemorative coins for about $6 over melt and they are .2419 pure gold oz. 90% fine like the old us Gold. The .99999 Maple Leafs were minted in 2011, maybe a $100 premium over melt.
I usually buy the maple leafs at about 60 dollars over melt. But there are older coins like the 1976 olympic coins that are usually a few dollars above melt as they are not very popular but who cares as its the gold content I want I dont care how pretty the coin is LOL.
