Florida's electoral votes in the presidential election are not awarded by "state convention" but are decided by the popular vote. When Bush won the popular vote in the state he was awarded all the electoral votes and thus the election, even though Gore won the popular vote nationwide. Had Gore gotten the popular vote win in Florida, he would have won the electoral college vote and history would have been far different.

Were you saying something about idiots?

I suppose if Paul "officially" ended his campaign, he could no longer expect to receive donations.

    LOL

...the old fart is smarter that many of his supporters/contributors.

Ron Paul isn't going 'anywhere'..he's simply not going to continue to spend money..he's also not going to announce his strategy until he is darned good and ready. The amount of delegates that is being posted by the MSM is BS and a hoax.....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLSwufb2x40&sns=fb

    ----------------------------
“As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

“This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.

“Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

“Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

“I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved – become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.

    For Liberty,

    Ron Paul.”

The Minnesota Republican convention gets underway in St. Cloud and Ron Paul will be a prominent force at the convention even though he recently stepped back from actively campaigning for president and Paul is scheduled to speak to the party delegates Friday evening. Spending millions more on the future primary contests is a waste of money as Romney is getting closer to 1,000 delegates and Paul is expected to be invited to the GOP convention in Tampa this year after amassing more than 10% of the total delegates.

So he wasted all that money running just so he could speak for 10 minutes at the convention.

He should stay in the race (if still possible) until election day to take millions of votes going to Romney and Obama.

What I posted IS REALITY, not the loony tunes make-believe delusional nonsense that Paulobots WISH was reality.

Paul is not a factor in this election, same as he has not been a factor in any other presidential election, same as he never will be a factor in any future presidential election. And the day after the elections I promise to make a posting for all Paulobots. "I told you so dummies!" Just as months ago Im told Paulobots that Paul would quit. HE HAS, and only the very, very, delusional don't realize that he has.

Mature people with the ability to actually think and reason discount those career politicians that do nothing but spew hot air. That's all Paul does, is spew hot air. Only the very stupid could possibly believe in him. Many believe in what he says, but KNOW it is a waste of time for HIM to say it. Good words, WRONG PERSON.

Agreed. It's been pretty clear for a long time that he wouldn't win, but he kept his message going anyway. The country is better off for it and I'm personally grateful for his contributions so far to the very important discussions about this countries future. I hope he finds ways to continue to contribute in the future and I hope folks listened and thought about many of the points he put forward.

Florida's electors like many states do not have to cast the states electoral votes the way the popular vote goes, they can should they choose to do so override the popular vote and instead cast the states electoral votes for whom, and anyway they choose.

according to the electoral college, it is possible that an elector could ignore the results of the popular vote, but that occurs very rarely

I personally believe that Ron started something that will outlive him. Here's an Alien's view of Ron Paul's message

There's a young man I know - who is an Iowa Delegate - who fully intends to ignore the state's primary caucus, and just cast his delegate vote as he sees fit.

He is a Ron Paul Zealot. Big surprise!

Paul is fourth in delegates by actual math and by the most insane math imaginable. 4th is 4th. 4th in a 2 man race. Paulobots should form a comedy act.

They support Ron Paul for the message of freedom and freedom of choice.

But what do you guys know, you all rather just bend down to the state.

http://thereal2012delegatecount.com/ has Romney at 496, Paul at 186, Santorum at 146 and Gingrich at 66 with 1392 still to be decided at state conventions.

I don't think anyone knows the 'exact' number, but this is probably closer than the fantasy numbers the AP has been putting out.

Romney WILL be the nominee. Paul will not be within 85% of Romney's total delegates.

Santorum WILL have more delegates than Paul.

The only close delegate count will be between Gingrich and Paul.
