At least it wil allow us to keep track of them and their current addresses and deport the ones who are violent and commit crimes.

"A coalition of liberal Democratic lawmakers and conservative ranchers is trying to build support in California for a bill that would grant work permits to thousands of illegal immigrants already working in the state, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Manuel Pérez, a Democratic state assembly member and sponsor of the bill, said immigrants who pay a fee, prove they are learning English, and show they have been working in California for at least five months would receive permits allowing them to stay, the Times reported Monday.

“We’re not importing folks from Latin America or Mexico,” Pérez said. “We’re talking about workers who have been here now for a period of years, who have raised their families here already.”

It’s estimated that up to three-quarters of workers in California’s $37.5 billion farm industry are in the United States illegally. Pérez said he offered the measure — which has cleared one committee — after discussions with conservative agribusiness interests and fellow Democrats in the legislature.

11% unemployment for legal citizens and it's a good idea? Only if we tax 'em at 30% work permit income tax and 50% wire transfer fees for any money wired out of the country.

    Ha-Ha!

This is considered "slave labor" by lazy people who do not want to work and would rather receive government welfare checks (like many people do in America today) to sit at home and do nothing!

What a great idea! They're already here, they're doing work nobody else wants to do. Now they'll be forced to pay taxes on their income and their employers will be forced to follow employment guidelines not associated with slave labor, including providing a living wage commensurate with federal guidelines, proper living conditions, and education and healthcare for their children. Win-Win for all!

Hahahaha!!!! I gues its ok for corporate america to offshore jobs (to slavelabor countries) at taxpayer expense and import products penalty free..Big companies enjoy a huge buffet of credits, shelters, deductions, and other preferences that reduce their rate to an average of 13 percent. Many profitable companies pay no federal income tax at all.

But these poor bastards that make less than miminum wage need to be taxed at a higher rate ... TWO TIMES!!!! In order to have the privilege of working for less than any american is willing to accept. Yep... your a logical fellow arent you...LOL white people crack me up.

Ask any American if they aren't willing to accept minimum wage when their unemployment runs out.

And getting rid of people who pay taxes, and help support the American economy does what again?

I don't think that should be necessary at all.

Yeah, unless employers just continue to hire illegals.

No nothings going to change except that illegals will be legally able to work. I live in an area where one of the big AG company's have migrant housing every year and it is not proper living conditions. Illegals get free education and healthcare for their children anyway, so that's nothing new either. I bet if this passes employers continue hiring illegals and ignore the ones with permits.

We can all see how much they contribute.

I'm shocked. Since most liberals believe in taxation as a behavior modification tool, I thought you'd love it. Liberals don't want folks to smoke and what do they do? We don't want illegals working here taking jobs from the 14 + million out of work, it only seems liberally logical to tax the crap out of 'em.

So there were no construction, fast food or restaurant workers before the illegals came in? Ask any construction worker if he doesn't want to do that anymore. College kids mainly worked in restaurants part time while going to school, not since the illegals came in and made careers out of them. 16 to 20 years old over 20% unemployed, 20 to 24 years old 13.2%.

Nope, can't support it. The only thing we should grant illegal immigrants is a prompt return to their original location. We could even give them a pamphlet explaining that we have immigration laws, and how to avoid violating those laws.

We dont' want them given jobs, we want them shipped out of the country in cattle cars and we want poor welfare people to be forced to take those jobs and pay taxes, etc.

If they are doing jobs Americans don't want, then Ameircans are lazy pieces of (*)(*)(*)(*) who need to be forced by privation into it. Having some form of employment should not be a choice, it should be a civic requirement that is severely punished if it isn't met.

Yes, I want to see Ghetto dwellers who have no education and no other job prospects somehow forced off the dole and put out into the fields to pick lettuce whether they "want to do that job" or not!

We don't want to lift poor people out of poverty, we want them driven from it by punishment if necessary becuase not taking whatever job you can get in times of economic hardship should be a crime.

Not all illegals are doing jobs Americans won't do. That is usually where many start but then they move on to wherever they can make more money.

I have been through the US immigration process. It is time consuming and expensive. Your background is checked thoroughly and you have to have your immunizations up to par as well as undergo a physical exam. Yet the government lets people stay here illegally. It does seem Obama has tightened border security and many illegals have been deported. To me people that are here illegally are criminals and should be deported.

    This is true.

Those who are sympathetic to illegal immigrants often convince those who are unwilling to think, that illegal immigrants are simply occupying jobs 'that Americans won't do".

http://migrationpolicy.org/pubs/Foreign Born Occup and Industry in the US.pdf

Yes, illegal immigrants occupy jobs that would be 'tolerable' to the average American. 'Jobs that Americans won't do' is simply a propaganda talking point.

I don't think that study involves illegal immigrants.
