I've had it!! Everytime I turn on the news something is being blamed on global warming. In fact, if you want a good laugh here is a massive list of things we are fed daily in terms of how climate change is harming us.

    http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm

Here is a taste of what global warming is causing

    1. Increased incidents of AIDS

    2. Allergy increase

    3. Increased earthquakes

    4. Increased vulcanic activity

    5. Increased astroid strike risk

    6. Increased chance of cancer

    7. Cloud increases

    8. And yes, an increase risk of crabgrass in your yard...........and the list goes on for frigg'in ever!!! :sun:

I'm sure there are plenty of less significant effects, but the major negative effects of global warming (in no particular order) are flooded coastlines, more frequent and severe heat waves, ocean acidification, increased spread of disease, widespread extinction, and of course a weakened global economy.

People may politicize the issue, but 'climate change' is serious stuff. In essence, knowing what's going on about that can/will save lives.

You are correct, it is serious business. In fact, the Obama administration says that if cap and trade is passed, it should cost about $200 billion per year which would be an equivalent of about 15% more in taxation every year. This would average out to be about $1,761 per family.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504383_162-5314040-504383.html

I can only hope that they can pass cap and trade so that we can be spared the fate of the dinosaur. Then again, does anyone really think cap and trade will significantly reduce carbon emissions? It's not like emissions out of cap and tax countries are really making much of a difference.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000/424052702303630404577390042359268690.html

Talk about exSTINKtion. Apparently the flatulence of the dinosaur equaled or even surpassed modern day carbon emissions. And as we saw, the dinosaur destroyed the world, didn't it?

You aren't being realistic and aren't worth talking to about it, because you think it is just a mere political argument.

Don't waste people's time with that approach.

    Peace.

But it is a mere political argument because every time people bring up global warming what they are really saying is that people need to be stopped in producing carbon emissions. So how is this to be done other than having an authoritative government come in and make heads roll?

Of course, you may be one of those who sincerly believe the hype. In fact, I know a guy who does and he does not even drive a car to work, rather, he rides a bike. I can respect his opinion, even though I don't agree with it. However, hypocrites like Al Gore who live a jet set life and drives SUV's and owns mansion after mansion to heat and cool I do not respect whatsoever.

In the end, politics will decide what will be done and what will not be done. And as with other political outcomes, it will not end up being a best case scenerio since $$$$ and control is really the primary motivating factor for humans. In fact, more harm than good is usually done by it.

You are incorrect. Please, get off of the right-wing talking points for a bit. There is exponentially more to climate change than you seem to be aware of. I've known people who have done research with various scientists on the planet itself; and I can tell you that it isn't mere "hype".

Don't be blinded by your "political" views on the matter.

I don't deny that the climate has warmed up. I don't even deny that carbon emissions may be contributing in some way, however, science also tells us that the climates on Venus and Mars have also increased. In addition, science also tells us it was hotter druing the MIddle Ages than it is now.

I'm going by what the scientists are uncovering. The politics surrounding the science is what it is.

Okay, Venus and Mars, Middle Ages ... but what does that mean in terms of our pollution policy?

No, not really. I have never agreed with all I hear from scientists. Even so, I know how to keep my mind open and ready to learn more (as things are discovered or proven).

If you were really open-minded and going by what the scientists say, you would not be so certain that human CO2 emissions are having a significant impact on global temperatures.

It means that CO2, which is naturally occuring and a necessity for life on earth, should not be considered a pollutant.

And the politicians often pay the salaries of those scientists or could end their careers. Don't underestimate that influence. It is akin to the smoking industry studying the ill effects of smoking by hiring scientists. Then once they came up with their data that showed that smoking kills they were then told to surpress their findings.

Have you ever seen the movie "Expelled"? In it we see the politics within science. Anyone who dares question evolution is black listed. I don't want to drum up whether evolution is correct or not because that is not the point. In fact, we see it in other areas as well. For example, the scientist who claimed that bacteria cause ulcers was also derided because he dared questioned accepted beliefs. Luckily, that particular scientist was able to prove what he was saying, thus saving his career, however, when it comes to global warming how are we to prove anything?

So I will also say to you, believe what you must.

I have beliefs and I listen to learn knowledge. I hope whatever is REALLY happening (or not) is clear enough (in time) for all to see.

Oh look, a thread based on lies by a science denier. What a shock. Read that in a blog did you?

Actually, if you care enough to look, which I know you won't, it lists each article that is presented in the media.

So once again you don't listen to actual scientists but some twit who doesn't know what they're talking about. Good job. No wonder your side is so ignornat of what is actually being researched.
