Surely not. I keep being told that you Americans all have perfect teeth and it's us in the UK who don't have dentistry!

Remind me not to mess with you!

Good to see you, I wondered just a couple days ago why you never stopped in.

...good music you've been sharing of late though. ;)

    Regards

Haven't been around the bar for a while - no reason for it, really, just other things to deal with. I was away for a week at a festival, too.

Ha...if you think we believe you've not been in a bar for a while...

Happy breakfast tomorrow everyone. Here is a song dedicated to the SMW breakfast club (as someone heard it and we've been singing it all day):

You are a sweetheart. There is no way you would dirty tshirt bump me and scare an old lady at the same time. Less of course you snuck up behind her with that purple hair and a fake nose and glasses with the eyebrows connected. lol

Hold it one minute...edit for bless his heart.

I would like to make it clear to everyone here, just in case there is any misunderstanding, that I do not have purple hair. That was 2 years ago. It is now orange. I thought I'd better clear that up! :)

As for the teeth thing, I do have an idea why, I think. Obviously we do have good dentistry (and have had for many years), but we do have a slightly different cultural attitude to 'looks' generally. We are less obsessed with 'perfection' than seems to be the prevailing culture in the US, so while our teeth are generally perfectly healthy, they are less likely to have gone through so much in the way of artificial straightening and whitening processes (doesn't mean we don't do it, but just not so much), so they might not look as 'perfect' as average teeth in the US - they are still perfectly healthy and functional, though. The same is true for things like hair being perfectly quaffed, gelled and sprayed (without a hair out of place, to the extent that it almost looks to us like it's held together by concrete!), and ladies wearing lots of make-up to cover any tiny possible imperfection and blemish (and also for any kind of plastic surgery in later life when the wrinkles start to show). It's a sweeping generalisation, of course, but as an overall impression of people, while we may look a little less 'perfect' than normal to you, you lot often look a little bit bit 'plastic' to us, and that goes especiallly for people on TV (Why are none of your newsreaders ugly people with big ears and so on? Do you need to have perfectly quaffed har to be a good journalist or know about politics or economics?!)! I prefer our way, but then obviously I would - I think we're just a little less likelely to 'judge a book by its cover', in some circumstances at least. It's just a slight cultural difference, though - nothing more than that.

Of course, we also have our share of toothless wierdos harassing people in supermarkets - at least we can be pretty sure they aren't carrying a gun, though!
(Sorry - couldn't resist that. I'll go off and infract myself for flamebait immediately!!!)

How about some morning music, then? My current avatar is actually the cover from this single:

    Good to see you online!

As much as trudging through festival conditions like this (and worse) a couple of weeks ago was hard going at times:

I love the fact that our summers in the UK don't get like that. Rain and mud and moaning about how the summer is just rubbish (again) I can cope with - that kind of heat I just couldn't. I think I'd have to spend several months sitting in a cold bath!

Plastic people stick out like a sore thumbs where I live. People are just regular. Nothing fancy or made up. That may be a misconception along the lines of some folks here thinking people in other countries have bad teeth. The people who do the national news are plastic looking people. Local news are regular looking people you would see in everday life for the most part. Its like anything else, Cen. People have misconceptions. You and I look as normal as most other folks. The plastic people are out of the norm.
I carry a gun. Not all the time but I do. I have had a permit to carry for years and was run through may hoops to get it. Training classes. Local and State background checks and every so many year when it has to be renewed I have to fill out a form and it gets reviewed. Its not an easy process. Of course anyone could walk in a market with a gun. That applies anywhere not just here. Difference is if they did here they know there is a possibility that the next guy has a firearm as well. Equal in that respect. Schools and such are easy targets. No guns permitted. Not equal. One sided and a spree. Its the culture in the end. Most people here are not repulsed by the thought of a firearm or using and caring a firearm. You grow up with it and know how to respect its power and have the sense of when you hold that gun in your hand you can kill someone. A huge responsibility not taken lightly by most sane people.

I like the orange hair better. lol

G'day folks. Nice to see everyone... Cen, don't be such a stranger, even with green hair, you're still welcome here. ;)

You think perfect teeth are the American way now... just wait until the next generation grows up. Medicaid now pays for braces and dental work for all children until they reach age 21. Periodonics offices have sprung up all over the place to handle the huge workload. It's a good program... just wish they paid for braces for children who's parents work 2-3 jobs to make ends meet... meaning they don't qualify for govt handouts.

We're definitely becoming more of a nanny-state with Uncle Sam telling us we're incapable of taking care of ourselves. Hopefully that trend will be reversed in the next election. ;)

Sorry 'bout y'all who are baking out there! It's actually cooled off a little here... we haven't broken 100 in the last coupla days. A real cold front!

Happy Sunday! Can't make it to Cowboy Church today but the Lord knows my heart is there even if my body's not!

Cooked a nice big ham yesterday (basted with Cherry Dr Pepper)... who wants ham & eggs this morning?

I never heard of that. I normally use pineapples and then use the juice mixed with brown sugar at the end. Ive used gingerale before but never cherry Dr. Pepper. When it gets cooler Ill definately try it. I wonder if I could do that with ham steaks on the grill for these guys? What do you think? Would that work. I dont wanna turn the oven on. Its cook on top of the stove or on the grill or salads. Its too (*)(*)(*)(*) hot to light the oven, as my mom always would say.

Same here, too hot to turn on the oven... moms taught us well!

Yeah, try the cherry DP sometime. Used to have a recipe for Coca Cola Pork Chops, too. Yummy!

Mmmmm, nice not to worry about going to work tomorrow. I could get used to this lazing about.

How 'bout a lil Sunday night staple in the ole South...

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. This week is dedicated to fun. We got so much work done this weekend its a coast though the week, hopefully. Got my old truck running and I love it. Nothing beats the smell of an old truck. '89 Chevy Silverado that turned over 200,000 miles and now has a new re manufactured motor. I got in it to drive it and it was one of those special moments. Like saying hello to an old friend. Very cool.
