This morning I was listening to the news and an ad came on for Obama. it was as far as I could tell, a complete lie. It centered around Roe Vs wade and Obama said Romney's main goal was to overturn it. I know Romney doesn't like abortions, but it is not his intent to attempt to overturn it and why are lies allowed to be aired is my basic question.

How could Romney overturn it anyway? Abortion is not a federal issue. It is a state one.

I did not answer the poll because I never watch or listen to political ads. None, from anyone, can be trusted. Total waste of time.

Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade – a case of blatant judicial activism that took a decision that should be left to the people and placed it in the hands of unelected judges

We place a great deal in the hands of unelected judges! Regardless, the President cannot ban abortion. It is really as simple as that. So his position means very little. Think about it. Reagan was pro-life, right? 8 years later abortion was still legal. Bush I was pro-life. 4 years later we still had abortion. Shrub was pro life. 8 years later we still had abortion. Same will apply to Mitt. Really, a Governor with a solidly pro-life state Congress can gut abortion laws in a single state (all without outlawing it completely, of course). A President can do essentially nothing.

I understand that...but the ad wasn't about Romney himself overturning it...it was about Romney wanting it to be overturned...in which Coolwalker states that is a lie...which I clearly point out is that it's not a lie...

I guess that would be true enough. I did not see or hear the ad. I have heard Rommey state he wanted R v W overturned. That was before he didn't, of course. He tends to be a tad wishy-washy.

The Obama ads I have seen mostly point out that Mittens thinks that it is okay to inject religious concepts into government and that the idiot will have an opportunity to appoint SCOTUS members who will let him do it.

Most of the ads, of course, point out that the vulture capitalist wants to make America safe for vulture capitalism.

    Spot on.

There are not that many "positive" adds that the Obama campaign can run without stretching the truth to and beyond the breaking point.

Pointing out that the little vulture capitalist wants to reduce the working class to a dependent pool of wage slaves and rent payers is not really an ad hominem attack nor unethical.

Obama has tried to give the middle class a tax cut, but we have idiots like Ryan and McConnell saying that the rich need more, when they have had so much more for years and not created the jobs that tghey said they would. Mittens wants to let the housing market bottom out so that the invrestor class owns most of the housing and can rent it back to the people who used to own homes.

What's wrong with pointing that out?

"Go ugly early" is a good idea if you are up against an unethical opponent. It never pays to be nice to thugs. Democrats were too nice to the teatards in 2010 and it got us a bunch of snot nosed punks who wouldn't know how to write a simple piece of legislation if ALEC and the Koch roaches were not shovelling their compost into the empty space that is the teatard brain case.

No, Mittens is a vulture who wants people out of their homes so he can pick their remains clean. No lie there.
