My apologies if this has already been posted. I searched, and did not find it, so... I have to ask, what has become of society? What can be done to stem the tide? For those of you that may not have read or heard this news story, the accompanying video may be disturbing. I'm struggling for words to express my feelings. Who ultimately is at fault here? Do you think the parent/s of this kid should be charged in connection, if so, would you please discuss? ~ Warning ~ Video below is disturbing ~ "Sandra Tevillion has been charged with two counts of contributing to the neglect of a minor in connection with the assault on the child Monday at the Kiddie City Child Care Center at 1783 Martin Luther King Drive, police said. Police said the arrests stemmed from two incidents at the day care involving a 9-year-old boy and a 23-month old child. Police said the incidents were captured on surveillance video, which was turned over to investigators by the day care's owner.".... http://www.wapt.com/news/central-mississippi/Vicksburg-day-care-worker-facing-charges/-/9156946/15622164/-/hc98qqz/-/index.html
WHAT "tide"? You have ONE example out of 400 million in North America. Terrible things have been done to children for forever, and it used to be done in public. And video surveillance is NOW allowing us to finally catch the secret psychopaths, young and old. The fact that this kind of action could lead to OFFICIAL response by authorities once noticed is quite a step up in mankind's progress. The London of Charles Dickens stories was based on REALITY.
Even if the state shuts it down, the kid probably wallops on people at many other places.... state can not ( and should not) control everything.
Hello Friendly, welcome to the forum. I agree, obviously (in my opinion) there is a lack of parental involvement. I just don't understand. Do we as adults, all adults, not realize that without involvement, nurturing and guidance of children, that society (American society) is on the fast track to hell? What does it say for us when movies/media that were once designed for children (batman), has evolved into movies/media for adults, and little kids are beating toddlers while at daycare? Disturbing/frighting... *sigh*
Dude, if you are ignorant to trending violence among American youth, from the very young to young adults, then there is nothing I could say to you that you would acknowledge. Good luck
No doubt the kid's messed up. The daycare place really messed up here, though. You can't ever leave toddlers and infants alone with older children. Kids don't innately understand that small people are fragile. This is an extreme case because the 9 year old was intentionally trying to hurt the girl, but he could just as easily been swinging her around thinking she would have a great time while doing so. The point is, I think you have to get the boy's parents to deal with his behavior, but the daycare is at fault for this particular incident.
I was just shocked. He was really trying to hurt those babies. At 13 or 14---this kid will be a danger to everyone.
99.9% of the time, 9 year olds get along fine with toddlers. It may be a one room daycare...... in fact up intill the 1900`s, most people attended school in a 1 room school house with ALL ages inside. seemed to get along fine.....
Did I hear her say 'he just a normal child'? There is nothing NORMAL about a kid that age and size kicking, punching and choking toddlers! What the hell is wrong w/her? Dam! And this brain-dead, unconscionable person is running a DAYCARE? The state needs to shut her down and mother & son facing a juvenile court judge to get that kid some help b/f he gets more vicious and violent.....
My point exactly, ST. When this type of behavior is accepted or blown off as normal (or treated as an isolated incident), society is lost. Regards
Fair enough, show me some more data that shows 9 year olds are a rising pandemic........What happens when a 9 year old attacks another 9 year old , who will you blame then? The school for not seperating the two children?
I'm sure you're right, but those babies shouldn't suffer b/c he's from a dysfunctional home and/or has mental issues........
There is merit to your words. I was thinking in the same vein, TRULY normal society would not expect a toddler to be unsafe in the presence of a 9 y/o. Obviously, we need to rethink. Unfortunately, the very parents that will do nothing to teach their little brats respect and behavior, will be the first to witch and moan when state rules have to be applied to separate the little monsters from younger kids.
Yeah i agree, it is a sad state of affairs. I do not think it is anything new, its just more "accessible " now with camera phones, internet, and other technology.
Not really sure what to do here......yes, it's awful, poor parenting, obvious psychopath, "society" is effed up, the Four Horsemen have gone from a trot to a gallop, blah, blah, blah.... but what I DO know shouldn't be done here....permit some consortium of statist do-gooders to make another GD law.
Really? Do you think school bus drivers were beaten by students before the Left's social revolution? _
