It was the latest unintentionally comic moment to beset the games and has raised fears of what else may be in store. News of the lock debacle followed a diplomatic tiff with India, triggered when a woman who was not part of the country's athletic delegation marched right beside India's flag bearer at Friday's opening ceremony. Olympic officials insisted there was no security risk from either incident. Games chief Sebastian Coe said the Indian team's interloper was an accredited cast member from the opening ceremony who "got slightly over-excited." Police said the Wembley keys appeared to have been lost rather than stolen and "measures were taken immediately to secure all key areas of the venue." Earlier Olympic glitches ranged from worrying to merely embarrassing. Security arrangements were thrown into chaos weeks before the opening ceremony when private security contractor G4S acknowledged it would not be able to provide all the guards it had promised. Thousands of soldiers, sailors and air force personnel some just back from Afghanistan had to be drafted in to plug the Olympic security gaps. Then last week, as the Olympic soccer competition kicked off, organizers mistakenly displayed the South Korean flag on a jumbo screen while introducing the North Korean women's team. There could hardly have been a worse mix-up the two countries are still technically at war. Britons, at least, are quick to see the humor. Opticians Specsavers ran a full-page ad displaying the two completely different-looking Korean flags and suggesting that anyone who can't tell the difference should stop by for a checkup. Then Welsh footballer Joe Allen was listed as English in the British team's official program, prompting a wave of mocking commentary across Twitter. Over the weekend, television shots of so many empty seats at Olympic venues enraged many ordinary Britons, who had struggled for months to get tickets, many unsuccessfully. Organizers are now scrambling to fill rows of empty seats allocated but not used by members of the "Olympic family" national federations, sponsors and the media. Yes, there were gaffes, but the olympics is a massive event to hold, and in comparison to problems with previous Olympic games, the problems were trivial. As for that Romney chap, what a total (*)(*)(*)(*)wit that guy is, slagging off a countries efforts to stage a games, even before thay started........i mean i seem to remember, didnt a bomb go off at the last games held in the USA ie Atlanta 1996?
Yeah. A little more serious than a lost set of keys. I saw more gaffes from NBC's coverage than I did from the London organizers. All in all, I thought the UK did a pretty good job, considering how big an event the Olympics are. My parents were there the past week and they said it was great, aside from not being able to get into the Olympic village without tickets for an event being held there.

Yes NBC didnt show a lot of events live much to the annoyance of the American public...........i mean whats the point of say showing the 100metres final hours after the event has happened...by then most people would of known the result, hence taking the excitement and tension away from watching the race live. Silly people!
They have the National Health Service. Competitors get treatment before they die, unlike the USA where they pick your pocket before providing a $10,000 aspirin and a $20,000 death certificate.
And this has what to do with my post? Another poster cited the roof leaking on runners as a gaffe from London. I said the stadium didn't have a roof. I wasn't trying to complain about the lack of a roof. I went to the Atlanta Olympics..... they didn't have a roof either. So what the hell are you talking about?
The last thing you want in Britain is a stadium with a roof..........i mean in the summer the humidity would be very uncomfortable!
Luckily you can watch the BBC without adverts. Americans have to watch adverts with 20 second an hour of programming. That's what is considered progress in the USA. It used to be 30 seconds.
