This is a LOCAL Township! Government doesn't get any smaller than that! In many cities this size, that guy may not even get a paycheck or is a part time worker!

If this was your town, you probably could walk to the manager's office and he may very well not have a receptionist!

I would imagine 100 people voting differently could change the leader if anyone else actually wanted the job! My bet is that the citizens of that township DON'T WANT the church or any volunteers to be feeding poor kids in their town, and are hoping they "poor kids" will MOVE AWAY!

The city manager is simply responding to his citizens who have probably complained bitterly about this kind of "encouragement" for "welfare slobs" going on in their community!

 

She can hand out free food at her house, but she has to follow the process as stated in her town's municipal code--chiefly to apply for a zoning variance. This is much ado about nothing.

As for the "office stooge," acting the way he did, I addressed that previously. It's not his responsibility to chase people down and explain ordinances to them. The responsibility of being informed, is with the citizen. Further, the "office stooge" has afforded this woman the opportunity to continue the program for the remainder of the summer, and simply asked that she do the required paperwork prior to next summer, if she wishes to continue.

No. It is not. It is his place to do his job and enforce the codes put in place by the community.

Whether what she's doing is good or bad is not the issue--the issue is that she's violating her city's zoning laws. The city has to enforce its codes otherwise what good are they? And they have to treat everyone the same. What do we just ignore the laws we don't like?

No, it is a simple zoning issue. Every incorporated community in this land has zoning laws and city codes. And every member of the community is required to conform to them. When they don't, the municipality is required to take corrective action. This is not some big government conspiracy here.

The "snake bureaucrat" is enforcing a crime against humanity. According to the US Nuremburg trials conducted against Christian Germany, following rules and orders is no excuse for your "crimes against humanity".

But then, maybe Comrad BowtotheRobots doesn't consider poor folks to be "humanity". Just like the Talmudic lawyers at Nuremburg didn't consider Germans to be "humanity".
