I don't ever get the impression that Dick Cheney feels shame when he collects his government checks.

You should be thanking Obama. He's the only reason you even get unemployment. The republicans wanted to cut off all unemployment benefits completely.

Lots and lots of hardworking families with children, houses and 401ks have been laid off more than once and have taken jobs paying a fraction of what they were earning. Have you talked with a bankruptcy attorney?

I'm sure that emotion gives way to providing for your family, which would not be possible if Republicans have their way.

I wish you the best of luck Blackrock. I will whisper a prayer for you tonight.

But if things don't change for you soon, you better hope and pray Romney doesn't get elected. Obama may be the only friend you got in Washington.

I guess basically what we are trying to say is, you should thank your lucky stars that there are still some compassionate people left in government, which you would have been even worse off if they didn't have the forsight to look out for the little people. many, many people are going through exactly what you are experiencing right now.

Can I make $400 per week working for Walmart? My guess is, no. But if I took a low paying job like that I would lose my unemployment and my family would actually be worse off.

You can tell me to "do the right thing" and work for Walmart any way, but such considerations go right out the window when you're trying to survive. Working for Walmart would mean taking food out of my children's mouth and I'm not going to do it.

Any way, I am now re-engaged in the practice of law. I have yet to meet one paying client, but I do have a lawyer who is funneling me some work on a P.I. case. So far I've made $400. That's enough to make one car payment but I only net $100 since $300 is taken out of unemployment.

As a former economist and current banking exec, I can state it's because there isn't one. But people tend to blame or give credit to whoever is in power when good or bad things happen to them. Of course, politicians are also very happy to take the credit or pass the blame. But the truth is that Presidents have very little to nothing at all to do with the economy. George Bush did not ruin the economy, although he did have an indirect role given his love of trickle down and non-regulation. But he did not do anything to directly crash the economy. Obama inherited a huge mess and could do little to fix it. Romney can't fix it either. It's been very slowly getting better over the last two years and no matter who is elected it will continue to do just that. Romney is not going to wave any magic wand and get anyone a job.

Dude shut up. I don't agree with Blackrock on anything. But the guy is hurting real bad. You never know when words like that could actually push someone over the edge. The man has a wife and kids to care for and he needs to get his (*)(*)(*)(*) together. I've seen people end their lives over troubles like these. It's a serious concern. Watch what you (*)(*)(*)(*)ing say.

There are other assistance programs you could qualify for if you had a low paying job. Such as Foodstamps and medicaid. Plus the longer you are unemployed the less employable you become. Take whatever job you can get. Your family depends on you.

    Ironic, ain't it?
You condemn the dems for their philosophy of "we are in this together" and embrace the cons for their philosophy of "you're on your own".
And then you come here and whine because you've screwed up your life.
    Think about it.

Fantasy land...hardly the current real world climate that actually exists.

Everybody.....just go take a sheet job anywhere. When you're outsourced or downsized again, just take another sheet job. If that fails, then take a sheetier job. You may be miserable, but you'll be helping to keep a fat cat portfolio nice and comfy.

I've thought about it. If I died, my wife would get $300,000 in life insurance money and at least HER problems would be solved.

And my son would have the money to go to college. There's no way I can afford to send him to college if I live.

I just finished listening to one of Romney's speech's on CNN today.

In this speech he blames Obama for the price of Gas. In previous speech's he blamed Obama for the unemployment rate shortly after he took office.

    Price of Gas:
Anyone who thinks that the President controls the Global trade in Gasoline is too stupid to be President and has no clue about the ecomomy.

    Jobs:

    1)Housing market collapse
2)Stock Market Crash (Dow from 14,000 to 6500)
3)Financial system collapse (credit markets frozen)
    4)Deficit of 1.4 Trillion

If you can not figure out that after that 1-4 is going to cause massive job losses ... then how can you claim to know how to turn the economy around ?

Romney is either completely ignorant of how economies and business work or he is a disingenuous liar.

Well, he didn't screw it up. Sounds like he did what we tell people to do. Went to college, went to grad school, got a job, etc. But law firms suffered when the economy tanked and lots of lawyers lost their jobs (insert joke here). But I get the irony. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps takes a different meaning when you realize someone just took yours.

Hey yeah...there's a winner! They'll have you on a part time "schedule" so whacked you'll not be able to take that second job at McDonald's. (but hey...better than nothing...if you consider that nothing is what you'll have regardless).

Long term solution for a short term problem bro. Ask your child if they would rather have a college degree or a daddy. Where has your degree landed you?

This too shall pass. Hang in there brother.

I agree with all those things. But killing himself helps NO ONE. And telling someone to do so, for some people, is just enough to push them over the edge. It's not cool and there have been cases of people being charged with a crime for doing something like that. And rightfully so.

In this case, I suspect that the op is a fictitious persona and that it's all just political bull(*)(*)(*)(*).
