"Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the alleged filmmaker behind the video that sparked protests across the Muslim world, was arrested on Thursday, the Los Angeles district attorney's office said."

From what I've been reading he's been arrested for breaking probation conditions. He was banned from using a computer because of a fraud conviction in 2010 and sent to prison for 21 months. Under his probation, he was banned for using a computer and the internet for five years.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the filmmaker behind the controversial movie “Innocence of Muslims” that has sparked days of rioting across the Muslim world, was ordered detained Thursday by a federal judge for allegedly violating terms of his probation. The judge cited a "lengthy pattern of deception," including making false statements to probation officials. "The court has a lack of trust in the defendant at this time," Judge Suzanne H. Segal said, adding that he posed "some danger to the community." Nakoula was arrested earlier in the day. Federal prosecutors argued in a court hearing Thursday afternoon that he posed a flight risk and should remain in custody.

His arrest was political, simple as that.

    Yeah, I'm in the area.

If it weren't for the Muslim men's panties getting in a knot he would have never gotten arrested.

This does seem to me to be the problem here.

I'm not a particular fan of this person, who apparently is a convicted fraudster. And of course he only has himself to blame for putting himself in the position where, based on a literal reading of his probation conditions, he can be arrested.

That being said, it is clear that nobody cared that he used his computer until the furore over the movie broke out. And as such, this arrest sends a very dangerous message.

It is vitally important for the credibility of the US justice system that the Obama administration puts out a clear and unambiguous statement to the whole world saying that it stands firmly behind this individual's right to make this movie and that making this movie was not in any way a crime.

I wonder if there is any connection with the current events in the ME?? Just curious.

The Powerplays behind "The Innocence of Muslims"

The Powerplays behind "The Innocence of Muslims" Damascus (Syria)
Israel’s big ploy moves ahead in the shadow of the demonstrations and reactions to the film "The Innocence of Muslims." However, the appearance of Hezbollah on the scene has reversed the situation, which could prompt Tel Aviv to call off the operation.

Political or not, he did breach probation. If you break the law, it will be used against you.

Now, admittedly, these kinds of things are often selectively enforced because of politics.

If the guy was smart, however, he would've just made sure that all of this computer activity was done by other people.

I think he is probably the fall guy.

It was not a one man operation, was it?

Did it not take $5mill worth of funding, god knows how, it looks like it was made in an hour, by someone v drunk.

    Who funded it?

U.S. Central District Chief Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal is overseeing proceedings, I believe.

    Segal?

    You are Belgian, yes?

Can you get thrown in prison there, for simply writing a book, or buying a book, that Jews don't approve of?

Does your state treat adults like little babies, as they do in Germany, sadly?

Bawk bawk bawk bawk. The sound of a liberal chicken in the LA District attorney's office and his assault on free speech.

"The maker of a video that inflamed Muslims worldwide will remain behind bars until another hearing to determine if he broke the terms of his probation."

Let's look at THIS statement. Does this mean that the cowardly Los Angeles communists will detain him until AFTER ELECTION DAY?

Well, if your reaction is any indication, this detainment might actually help Romney more than Obama.

Blacks are responsible for a high crime rate in the USA. Kill all of the blacks because they MIGHT commit a crime?
Women have abortions. Kill all of the women because they MIGHT have an abortion?
A film maker makes a controversial film. Jail him because A-rabs might commit more crime?

Can you see how insane you are or do you need assistance with ridiculous and condescending remarks?

But if you truly believed in what you were doing, however misguided or not, you should be man enough to stand up and have broad shoulders about, not deceive it onto others.

How can anyone be respected when they start from a position of treachery?
