I've noticed a trend up here in New Hampshire. It's small but definite. One of my jobs is in a hardware store where people sometimes stay a while and B.S. with other customers and the other workers. Over the last few months quite a few people have said that they are fed up with the negative adds/lies and are going to actually vote against the Super pacs and big money. I love the idea of the spending actually backfiring.

What really got me thinking about this was a customer yesterday talking to another customer. She said that the way she looked at it was - if people with too much money are willing to spend so much to win, they must have something unpopular to do that benefits them. Otherwise they'd just come out and advertise for their cause. Anyhow, she was so passionate that it stuck with me all day. When I got home, I decided to google "super pac spending" and was astonished by how much more money was spent by conservative/republican groups - 66% - 75% more depending on the study!!! What's worse? 90-95% was spent on negative adds. So Very Sad.

I love the notion that all the ludicrous spending could actually backfire. I hope that Romney loses - if for no other reason than to show that, ONCE AGAIN, the vast majority of the wealthy are actually poor investors. They just happened to be part of a bubble that gave them a false sense of their ability. We should not be following their lead.

    You're correct overall!!

And the main reason Republicans/Conservatives are spending all of that extra money... is because what they are trying to SELL the people don't REALLY want. They are playing a serious mind game, indeed!! And as I have said in this forum hundreds of times: They will pay for this in future elections as well.

The Right sadly caters to a wealthy few; to vote FOR that isn't natural for a person from the middle class. Of course they had to SELL that sugar coated turd... rather than put something truly GOOD into it. Thus all the PAC money that was put to work. :(

People have caught-on... and that will be costly to the Right for a VERY LONG TIME.

So, is the outrage against Super PACs and negative ad buys, or was that just the lead in to Republicans/Conservatives/Romney/Investors are bad?

Would Super PAC ads not be quiet as evil, if the Obama administration wasn't finding itself on it's heels the past couple weeks?

We've actually studied this in school and have determined that Super-Pacs had zero effect in either the election or the republican primary. The total effect of them was having people exposed to a few more ads then they would have been normally which is easily countered by turning off the television or the radio.

Since both sides use them they effectively cancel each other out. Its unlike 2008 when Obama outspent McCain by a 3 to 1 margin. Now the candidates are roughly even. Using prior research we were able to determine a saturation point where negative advertising ceases to be effective and becomes a negative to the campaign. Both sides have overused them this election.

Negative advertising works but only up to a point.

    Yes

They were focussed on the super pacs and money. I wondered what the result would be so I found the trend of spending on line.

The Obama administration was never on it's heels. AT BEST you could think that both parties were even but that's still a stretch. I have to assume that your feeling of momentum came from the polls and hopefully not the punsters. Please look at the latest polls and find Obama the 80% favorite.

Seems to support the idea of voting against the money.

I'm so sick of the blatant partisan bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that continues to permeate around here. While posters are always keen to point out that the side they disagree when it spends tons of money to get their favored turd elected they suddenly become mutes when the side they support is spending just the same amount of money. Based off the info I've found the main two (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s have raised ~$1.2 Billion between straight donations and their Super PACs. With Romney raising $1222.5 Million and Obama raising $1284.2 Million. So please cut out this mental midgetry and use some intellectual integrity next you decide to let your partisan ramblings upon the world.
