Really? How far is 'too far too walk'? A block? 50 yards?

    Try more like 20 miles.

I think the average American commute to work is that distance.

I live 17 miles from work. Don't think I'll be getting up at midnight to walk to work, but sometimes I do ride a bicycle. Most of the time however I get into one of my five cars, my one truck, or one of my motorcycles.

Well, the borscht I've had has come from a native Moldovan and a native Bosnian. I suppose they could have dumbed it down for me, but I just wasn't impressed with either dish.

If I find myself in Eastern Europe sometime, I'll give it another shot.

Is there still such a thing??? Some of those "whole food" places advertise one thing, and pawn off GMO's on the other. Good idea and all but, who can you trust?

    Nice page...

Hem. I wonder what WikiPedia considers the "traditional foods of California"? ... If 5 or 6 people eat the fine quality food YOU posted... I wonder what the millions of struggling children eat?

NOTE. THAT picture was artistically created. Please. Imagine a pale, flacid Pink Slime burger on thin bleached artificial bread with genetically engineered high yield vegetables grown on chemical fertilizer. Now you are CLOSE to understanding.

The origins are genuinely disputed, and most claims are American. The term Hamburger is derived from the Germany city Hamburg, but Hamburg gave it's name to meat patties, not the sandwich - assclown.

So, what country are you from again?

Recipes for hamburgers have been found from ancient Rome.

There is one proposed origin of the hamburger,, something read a couple of years ago.

German immigrants between Europe and America, somewhere mid Atlantic, where so disgusted with the food on board. They decided to take things in their own hands and put a ground beef patty between two slices of bread.

The ship was called the Hamburg.

I was born in Hamburg. The Hamburger name for mince beef patty is Friegedele (excuse my spelling).

I don't doubt it. As I recall from history readings, it was called Hamburg originally because people got it from there. It's a trade thing.

Had them, very nice in a bun or on its own. Taste better than a hamburger as well. Frikendelle are Pork not beef.
