Twenty-seven or younger? Then you’ve never experienced a month in which the global temperature has been colder than average, according to the latest data from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

In NOAA’s monthly “State of the Climate” analysis, the agency reported: “The average temperature across land and ocean surfaces during October was 14.63°C. This is 0.63°C above the 20th century average and ties with 2008 as the fifth warmest October on record. This is the 332nd consecutive month with an above-average temperature.”

This is global data, of course, and the pattern is rather more complex at a local level. In fact, the average monthly temperature in Britain in October was 1.3 degrees Celsius below average, making it the coldest October since 2003. Scotland had its coldest October since records began in 1910.

But this was outweighed by the rest of the world, including central and southeastern Europe. Croatia was 1.1 to 1.6 degrees Celsius above the 1961-to-1990 average, and Moldova was even hotter: 2.5 to 3.5 degrees Celsius above average.

I have never understood how people can deny Global warming is happening, whether it be because of natural phenomenon, or human pollution. I remember being able to sled on multiple inches of snow every winter as a kid living in Nashville. In the 90's I got my nephew and niece (who live there) sleds, and they were able to use them like... twice...
How do you explain this away deniers?

Of all the 336 peer-reviewed studies on global warming since 1990, something like 24 have opposed the idea of man-accelerated climate change. Thats' what we call a consensus. You're saying 98% of scientists are dead wrong? Look beyond your politics, uninformed opinions like this (shaped by fuel-company sponsored "research groups") are what holds this nation back.

 

If Global Warming is accelerated by man due to industry and manufacturing, then how do you curb the pollution it creates without losing jobs and raising prices on goods?

Or is the pursuit of better environmental conditions worth the removal of low-skilled workers who make up these industries which results in not having to raise prices?

Taxing the air helps both with welfare expenditures along with protecting the Environment.

A little knowledge for Climate Deniers, the warming caused the ocean to give more energy to Hurricane Sandy which caused havoc on the East Coast.

Now New York needs to install barriers on its coast line, so the Stock Exchange isn't threatened again, all the Rich people got a wake up call when they saw their investments freeze for one day.

 

Shhhh... don't tell them that the storm was a collision with a severe cold front which was the real catalyst.

lowering carbon emissions would reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, which would allow more of the suns heat to escape the atmosphere, and thus lower the earths temps back to normal levels.

 

I don't get this thread. Intelligent people concerned for the future of the planet are trying to convince cretin bully boys that global warming is real. Why bother? The people who have been brainwashed by Fox and by the coal and oil industry are proud of their ignorance and won't let it go. You might just as well try teaching a cow to read.

 

Whether global warming is a product of mans influence on th earth is debatable but there is no debating that global warming is occurring. It may be a natural phenomenon that the earth goes through and will continue to go through long after man is gone but you have to big a pretty big dumb ass to claim global warming isn't happening.
