Whenever the question comes up "Why do Republicans fight so hard and gridlock government?" The same bull (*)(*)(*)(*) answers keep coming. "Racism". Do you think we republicans would give Hillary Clinton an easier time? Do you liberals honestly believe that if Al Gore, John Kerry, or Hillary Clinton were President that we would somehow magically cave in to Democrat demands? No, you don't. You know as well as I do, that even if Obama was a Catholic White named John Smith we'd still do everything we possibly could to lock up the government and prevent it from functioning. Why? Well set aside all the talk about creeping socialism and get right down to the truth. Regardless of whether socialism is the correct term to use or not. It all boils down to one thing. We republicans refuse to live in a USA that adopts European levels of Taxation, and European sized welfare states. That is the bottom line. We don't hate Obama because he's black. We don't hate Obama because we don't believe he was born in the US. We hate Obaman because he repersents a part of the country that wants to copy European social programs, and European levels of taxation, and European levels of protectionism and industrial policy. This is not evil, this is not greedy. We simply feel no moral obligation to engage in the level of government funded charity that American Progressives and Europeans do. Why does the left constantly demonize this as evil, or greedy or other number of derogatory traits? I simply can't for the life of me, figure out why wanting to keep the maximum amount of disposable income in my paycheck as possible is considered so morally wrong?
The underlying argument that they have is that since you are using the Capitalistic system here in America the government should be able to tax you as much as they please since you are making your money using their system.
Since none of those reasons are in any way reasonable or accurate we seem to be back to hating the black dude because he's black.

Conservative Politician: "Lax border security is a HUGE national security threat and we need to secure the border. Having millions of non US citizens running around the country is also a HUGE national security threat we need to address this problem". Liberal: "RACIST! Most illegals are hispanic, you hate hispanics!" Conservative Politician: "Welfare needs to be addressed. Way too many people are abusing the system and finding ways to exploit the system. We are giving away millions of dollars to those who do not actually need or deserve it yet have found ways to work the system. Perhaps we should implement a drug test and start investigating these welfare recipients a bit more thoroughly" Liberal: "RACIST! Most welfare recipients are black!, you hate black people!" You know what I would love so much? I would love to see us turn the table on them just to show them how stupid they sound. I would love this: Liberal Politician: "I believe we should tax the wealthy a bit more since they have the money to afford it. It won't hurt their bank accounts if they paid higher taxes since they make so much money. We need to lower our debt and they can help with that". Conservative: "RACIST!! Most millionaires are white! You hate white people!" See how utterly stupid that sounds?
Republicans fight so hard because they want more and more tax cuts for the rich. It feeds their insatiable gluttony for greed. Those days are over. We have returned to the level of the Clinton tax rates, pre GW Bush, for the rich.
Okay, when do we return to Clinton era spending levels? Oh, and just to make it clear. Republicans want low taxes for everyone, including the rich.
Republicans may want to keep the rich happy but us true conservatives believe we tax too much and waste the money. Cut out the waste and sprawling government, decide what issues we ACTUALLY need money for and set the tax rate to cover that, whatever it may be. We believe that taxes should be lowered for everyone and that government just continues to raise them to keep wasting money instead of cutting spending. We all know there is massive fraud and waste in the government and we just simply cannot justify raising taxes when that is happening.

Mitt Romney (before he flip flopped on this as well) said he wanted to raise revenues by capping deductions. The biggest deduction for the upper middle class and lower-upper class is the mansion-mortgage deduction and the vacation-home mortgage deduction. These would be two that should really be capped, say, at $20K per year. For example.

Well, the fact remains that unless average working class Americans are forced to pay much higher taxes as well as the rich, those precious democrat special interests will destroy the country. and by "much higher" I'm talking about 35% marginal tax rates for the lowest income brackets.
